Ha ha ha, ya, he is downsizing for next time I’m there.
Last time he had a milk pail with a 1750 in it and a chunk of 3/4 inch garden hose hooked to it.
The libation station owner said he only stocked 2 1.750 at a time and thought I should let other customers have a chance.
That and EPG got tired of running down there.
I told him it would be quicker if he took the sxs but he wouldn’t listen.
I dang near died of thirst waiting on his 2nd trip.
Venison heart tossed in floor and fried in butter with onions
Venison heart
I always wondered if anyone else ate the deer heart. Now I know.
I will will have to try it this way. I have never cared for it and always save the heart for family that loves it. Yesterday fishing a guy brought sliced/brined/smoked venison heart and it was just like a good tender beef jerky. I actually liked it- it didn’t taste like liver or have any game taste at all just like beef really. So, I have a couple new ways to try it now thanks.
This was my first time trying it. I’ve always left them in the field before. Wasn’t bad at all. Would be good with some taters mixed in also.
Alagnak that actually sounds good. As lean as the heart is I bet it would make some jerky
We eat deer heart in the morning duck blind. Cold morning hot heart on the cast skillet in butter onions and a pinch of brown sugar.
Just fried up some heart from my deer on monday about 5 hrs after it was harvested. SOOOO GOOD. My wife wont touch it but my boys and devoured it.
Here’s my entry for the chili cook off at the office tomorrow. Had to hold back on the heat level for the masses but I think it’s a winner. Leftover smoked brisket is my secret weapon.

my brother smokes it. in order for the meat muscle of the heart to take on the brine he has to slice it!!!!!!

I gotta tell ya, I dont eat organ meat either, to me, when you eat liver you just as well wring out your furnace or AC filter and make tea with it.
Kidneys?? ya gotta boil the pizz out of em.
These are body filters that process every toxic thing that is consumed in a life time.
The heart?? sure, its a muscle meat but every good or bad thing that can be pumped through a body goes through the heart first after the digestive system processes it.
I guarantee you if a cannibal ate any part of me, they would be dead before sundown.
True story, I was down in Kentucky when a rattlesnake bit me, after five days of agonizing pain the snake died.
OKAY OKAY!! the last part is only partly truthful, I wasnt in Kentucky, SHEESH! I was just trying to make someone laugh!!
