I enjoy feeding a big crew.
This is a regular for me.

This weekend they enjoyed my homemade brats and walleye fry.

I never know how many are coming but when I bring walleye they tend to come out of the woodwork.

Especially loved the young ones mowing down brats!

First pot roast of the season, done in the pressure cooker. Winter’s coming and this is a favorite at our place.

Oh! The pot roast and the sides just can not beat that. Licked the screen and memories just flood to the surface

Doing a 7# chucheye roast aged at 60 days now and almost ready to be taken off the grill. Not a pot roast but a different take of what can be done with the shoulder.
Going in for a rest in a heated stock pot with a towel on it. The aluminum disk on the stock pot retains a lot of heat for the rest. Works well rather than a bulky cooler.

If your wondering about the bone. It’s a short rib above it. A pleasant surprise by the shop cutting it.

Salmon fillets broiled with dill/lemon/butter baste tonight. Some noodle dish as a side I guess. Maybe a cold beer.

looks like everyone is eating very well. The pizza, the aged chuckeye & tuna all look & sound delicious. All I got was a Schmidt’s old fashioned hot dog today. No pic.

Nothing at all wrong with a good “old fashioned” style of hot dog. Love the pups myself. No picture needed to know how good they are.

Brinner for dinner tonight! That’s breakfast for dinner = brinner. Billy made sausage and french toast using the most delicious apple cinnamon bread from Louie’s Meats. It makes amazing french toast, and is also great plain or toasted in a toaster with a blob of butter.

Here is the recipe I started with superdave but I altered mine quite a bit. I used a whole package of extra thick bacon, added the
kielbasa sausage after I browned it separately, chicken stock and spinach. Since the sausage and bacon have a lot of salt already I skipped adding salt as the recipe calls for. Turned out great. I think next time I may add some sliced carrots too.

Thanks, looks pretty much like a basic haluski recipe that we make with some noodles or dumplings. I like your twist on it.

I had a fire going this afternoon to burn up some wood from out Birch clump and some shop trimmings. Since I was going to have a mess of nice coals I took a 4 pound Lake Trout fillet from the freezer and had it thawed and ready for the fish basket when the fire said go. 10 minutes of fire time and it went to the plate. Man, was it good. There’s just something about cooking on an open fire and this Trout fillet was no exception. Sweet corn we’d frozen this fall and a Butternut squash baked to perfection rounded out the mid-afternoon dinner. No a speck of left-over anything….it was that good.
