what's a merc 50 worth?

never mind, nothing to see here.

and is there a market for an older motor like this? 50 hp mercury outboard, remote steer,mid 1980s (black & brown). With all the steering cables & controls as well as power tilt/trim.

If you’re looking for a quick sale, Twin Cities Outboard will buy this. I had a similar motor and they paid me $100 cash on the spot. Mine was a tiller. So you may get another $50 or so for all of the controls.
