    Are they any good to eat? I’ve caught them but have never tried eating one yet…and, while no Andrew Zimmern, I tend to be a bit adventurous with food.

    Actually, they are pretty darn good. I just have a hard time getting the sheepie stink off my hands.

    Pretty cool. I’ve never seen them caught through the ice.

    They are decent to eat if you eat them right away. I would soak it in salt water for a day. If you freeze for a later date….. WATCH OUT!!!

    Sheephead. I’m going to try some next to walleye (fried) and smoke some also.

    Maybe it’s more that walleyes taste like sheephead, they’re a primary forage for the walleye in the Rock River.

    A buddy of mine smokes them. They are not to bad.
