Joe, I’m looking at those right now…is it the STR series? Is that what you have? Price is certainly reasonable!

Have you looked at the new lines from Glad and Hefty?I have looked at those and unfortunately they don’t come in my favorite color. As we all know, it’s all about how you look in it!

Yep very easy to find the “Black” but the “Gold” that makes it toughfer (tounge in cheek)June 24, 2016 at 9:46 am #1626122Simms is the best rain gear I’ve used so far. And I own my third set of Cabela’s guide wear. Good discount for NPAA members too.
X 2 ! Hate the price, but forgot all about the price fishing in rain & 20mph winds all day.

June 26, 2016 at 8:44 pm #1626446I have had 3 sets of Cabelas Guide Wear one insulated and two non insulated. Over the years they made improvements to the zippers etc. never had a issue getting wet.

Dean,
I guess your link isn’t for us little people.June 27, 2016 at 8:06 am #1626489Just purchased the Cabala’s tourney jacket for $95.99 on line July 4th sale regular price was $199.00
Seems to be a very good quality.June 27, 2016 at 8:54 am #1626500I have a full Guide Series TechH20 suite that I have had for quite a few years now. Really good rain suit with no complaints at all.
My dad also just recently got me the 100MPH Bass Pro Shops suit which I also like a lot. I have looked at the guide wear from cabelas and it seems the same as BPS and GM. I hate gander mountain but again the suite has been nice.
If it was me buying a suit again I personally would go with another BPS 100MPH suite. After being in a hail and severe down poor on Leech and being completely dry I am very happy with the BPS suite.

Ouch a grand for a rain suit, I hope you get a stuff sack with it.
June 27, 2016 at 3:37 pm #1626578I’ve been using Simms gear for a long time and have had a PD suit since they came out. Yes it’s spendy but it is the best out there. I’ve quickly become a fan of this company after getting an insulated jacket from them a few years back. They just came out with a new combo “nano” series that’s about $250.
stormrusa.comJune 27, 2016 at 11:09 pm #1626647I have a Cabelas Guide wear suit that is at least 15 years old and is still perfect. I only wear it spring and fall because it is a non-insulated suit but it is too warm for a summer rain suit. The FW got for me for Christmas one year it was $500 back then.

stormrusa.comI emailed stormrusa with a couple questions. No reply since yesterday morning.
I emailed Simms the other day and I received replies back from both emails the same day. I’ll pay extra for companies that respond to inquiries or even acknowledgments.
June 29, 2016 at 12:14 pm #1626956Whatever you do don’t go with Frog Toggs, worst, wettest rain gear I ever owned.
I wore my Gander H2O suit out but that was a great suit for about 6 years.

Wholey Crap! A Grand for a rain suit??
I’m not Mr. Fruggle but that ain’t go’na happ’in!June 29, 2016 at 2:58 pm #1626985BK – whats your question on the Stormr gear? I have fusion suit and am very happy with them.
June 29, 2016 at 6:46 pm #1627027Thanks Wes, it’s a bit late now. I still haven’t received a reply from them.
Fusion was the one I was interested in.
PS we can talk more about this once you sell your WX1825 2012 version with all the goodies for $36k and you have your new ride.
June 30, 2016 at 8:11 am #1627078It could seem a little crazy spending over $500 for a set of rain gear- but if you do indeed plan to fish a lot, or ‘work’ on the water as some of us do it’s worth it. How much do you spend on a new bow, new electronics, fancy rods, etc? If you are using it here in the midwest and not in an area where it rains every day and don’t abuse it around machinery and such you’re likely going to have the set for 10+ years- easily. What’s $50-$100 a year to use great gear? You’ll not only be comfortable during crappy weather, you’ll be out in weather you never were before (and most likely have the water all to yourself). I still have one of the first designs from Simms and just gave it to my dad for a canada trip along with my oldest rain pants from them- they had crappy weather and he had the set on all week and said it performed great. I also keep the older set handy for clients to wear when I see they have junk gear and they never complain about that either. At least for me- it’s been money well spent. Treat yourself to some nice gear and laugh at the forcast.
June 30, 2016 at 8:43 am #1627089Good reply Pete.
A case could be made to buy lower cost gear and toss it out every year for new. Not my school of thought, but I understand it.
My biggest concern is of keeping the gear below deck all summer and it molding from lack of use.
Simms ProDry is ordered and on it’s way. Thanks All!
June 30, 2016 at 8:55 am #1627092Just like having an expensive pair of sun glasses- you’ll be taking care of your investment. I doubt you’ll be leaving it below deck for days on end! I have a nice med sized stuff sack/dry bag for my set. I fold and roll my jacket, lay that on my bibs that are folded once, then I roll my bibs around the jacket and in the stuff sack they go. Not much bigger in size than a 12 pack and light as heck.
