what species is this fish?

    I caught this outta the Mississippi in St. Paul on a nightcrawler. Can’t figure out what species it is though. Anyone know?

    I think it may be sheepshead family or a dog fish

    It’s Sheepshead/Freshwater Drum.

    Yep. Freshwater Drum or as they’re affectionately know, sheephead.

    Yup, sheephead. Very common on the WI River system too. I’ve heard some people say they taste good, but I’m never gonna try it

    They do taste good if you get them from good cold water. Trim them up and fry them, good and flakey!!!
