What size trolling motor for Mississippi river

    I am looking at buying a trolling motor to mount on my 16′ Alumacraft Ltd. I am just curious on what I will need to get to be able to sit in the current when fishing wing dams. I realize there are some variables such as wind, current etc. Just curious on what everyone recomends for this. Any information would be helpful.

    I’d never go smaller than a 24V that’s for sure. I run a Lowrance ghost in 24V(97lbs of thrust) on a 16′ boat, and I have been very pleased. It sucks when you cant fish how you want because your trolling motor won’t keep up.
