What size is my Mora Auger?

I am totally new to Ice Fishing. In fact, I am waiting for ice for my first attempt.

I just bought an old, used Mora auger off FB Marketplace ($10). My problem is, I don’t really know if it is 6″ or 7″. I don’t see any markings.
The Auger body measures about 6 5/8″ diameter. The blade mount area measures 6 3/4″ across. So, I bought 7″ blades from Strikemaster. I can’t imagine the blades being smaller than the mount width. They mounted up just fine. Blades extend slightly beyond the end of the mounting surface. Did I guess correctly on the 7″ size? Any comments would be welcome!

I think your blades are on up side down.

Yep upside down. I measured mine should be a 7 inch auger It may tell you on the old blades should say 7 stamped somewhere.

Thank you both! I bought the auger for $10, with no blades attached. It actually had a blade cover that was marked 6″ (Which I noticed AFTER I ordered the 7″ blades of course) It does not fit over the 7″ blades, but, I’m almost thinking its the wrong blade cover.
    I’m going with 7″ mrpike.

I was wondering about which side faced out. Went off a picture of a new StrikeMaster Mora, and the picture on the blade box.

I just looked at a auger like yours and I think your blades might be right . It’s hard to tell in your picture but the taper of the edge should be going down to cut into the ice

Appreciate all the help! Here is a side view pic of my new blade. I’d like to make certain I have them on correctly before putting Loctite on the threads and tightening them down.

I’d hold off on the Loctite till you’ve tried it. Sometimes, those auges get a little bent and you end up having to shim the blades a little to get a better cutting and. I’d just tighten them up and give it hell.

I have an 8″ mora that I use 7″ blades on to give me a little less resistance when cutting. If the cross section of the auger is greater than 6″ I think you can use either the 7″ or 8″ blades depending on your preference.

The Mora 8″ model uses the 7″ drill unit.Blades stick out the sides a little with 8″.
