If you could only have one Humminbird Unit on your Bassboat, which one would it be?

    Thanks…….

I don’t want to limit to my budget,I just need to find out what most of you think would be the best single unit.

Not to be rude, but most everyone has a budget. If not go and buy the most expensive unit and your set! Spendier units will have more functions, newer functions, higher def, better capabilities and so forth.

GPS, side, down, 360, auto stow, piloting, etc.

So what’s your budget, do you want it hooked up to TM, and how much console space do you have to work with?

Do you like lots of menu options or keep it simple? Do you plan on networking at any point? What’s your style of fishing? Just BC it’s a bassboat don’t mean you automatically go after bass all the time. Fish finders are big bucks and require more info for better response.

Let me put it this way. I’ve owned the same Ranger for the last 25 years. I fish for only Bass in water usually never deeper than 25 feet. I usually fish the same five lakes in my area. I’ve never been too into electronics. On my boat now is an indash flasher and a temp gauge. I’ve been reading a lot about Humminbird Helix and am very impressed with what I have read. I’m also in the market for a new trolling motor and am going to go with the new Ultrex, that’s why I am looking for information on what Humminbird unit to purchase. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks again…….

Either get the largest scream size that you can mount and afford. On the Ulterra get the I-pilot with “Link” also.

With what they have available now, I would get the Helix 12 G2. Waiting to see if there’s an Onix update too. It’s has the most new features at the moment.

I can’t tell you which Humminbird unit to buy, but I would suggest that you get one for the console and one for the bow – the one for the bow needs to interface with your Minnkota motor. If you are only going to get one, the bow unit is the one to get (you already have a flasher on the console) – you drill’em and drag’em bass anglers have a need to spend most of your time up front slingin’ baits…..(Just funnin’ you a bit) Merry Christmas

If you’re someone casting a lot, Garmin with a Panoptix is really hard to beat. No other electronics are anywhere near that technology.

Don’t forget to include mounting hardware when measuring how big a unit. Almost bit me. Best deal out there right now is either the gen 1 Helix 10 or the Onix 8/10 cxi. Best Bird units out there are probably the G2 Helix 10/12.

I went Onix 8 with Terrova iPilot w/Link. Love the touch on the Onix but it’s not near as easy to operate as the Helix/Core series. I had budget constraints too.

One more item for your list. To truly get the capabilities out of a MinKota/Bird integration then you’ll want a Lakemaster chip for your area. If they don’t have one then Autochart Live will serve you well.

If I knew then, what I know now: I would get something with CHIRP. From what I here it gives better separation between fish and the bottom.
