Here’s the only purchase I’m planning on this year.

Ha, Ha! We did that this late summer!

Was driving around one day this summer and saw a garage sale with a Clam Nanook shelter sitting outside. The shelter is in great condition and bought it for 150 bucks. Had no intention on buying an ice shack that day but sure glad I had my pull tab money in my pocket that day haha. Now I dont have to buy one at the Ice Show.

This years purchase was a Bullwhip and a conversion kit to take the Helix 7 off (my Dad’s) the boat and onto the hardwater. It’s gone good for me in doing one big purchase ($100+) a year spread out over several years. Gas auger, flasher, portable, ATV, Striker Suit, TUCR. Would like to start adding a new TUCR each year or two now.

Had to laugh the other day when my wife was looking at a Fleet Farm Ice Fishing ad that came in the mail, “Who in the world would spend $300 on a Vexilar??? There’s so many better uses for your money….”

I will be making the jump to electric and picking up a new SM Lithium 40V. Not having to carry gas along and not having to start an auger and let it warm up every time I want to drill holes are going to be awesome… But the thing that really sealed the deal for me this year is that they come with a second battery so no worries about running out of power before I run out of holes to cut!

I’m also looking forward to trying the lithium shuttle paired with the new M5 a try!

Seriously though I could have a cabin. Daycare is my second mortgage.

Same here…no new gadgets for me…my daycare is MORE than my mortgage…But I’ll tell ya, it’s worth it, as I’m sure you’ve already found out.

I bought a marcum pan cam for the wheel house. But after it shows, up I find out the app isn’t able to be downloaded now, they are working on an update. And they cannot tell me when it will be done. It has been a few weeks now. I am very close to losing my cool. How long does it take? I fear it will turn into like the LX-9 update. I’m kind of losing faith in marcum. We pay top dollar for their products. Their products are cutting edge technology, but their support/updates are seriously lacking.

Wait until they go off to school. Crazy, stupid expensive and that is with over half of his tuition free with academic and athletic scholarships. My big purchases are done for awhile.

Mine’s not more than my mortgage yet… but with our 2nd due on December 29, it’ll be awfully close to it once he starts daycare 12 weeks after that.

Nothing too fancy for me planned. I just purchased 2 of the otter rod holders, Otter LED lights and the 3 pocket mesh storage for my Lodge. I intend on buying a hub shack of some sort, either an Otter or Polar Bird, but haven’t decided.
Other than that, I will probably get another depth finder since I only have 3 and each of my 3 boys seem to think they need to use one even though I show them they can see multiple lines on one unit. Doesn’t work for them I guess.
I MAY consider going to an electric auger, but I would have to sell my Solo first. I really have no reason to do so. The Solo has been perfect. Always starts on 2nd pull and cuts the ice faster than I can imagine.

I tell you, 3 in daycare is crippling! I remember when the first went to kindergarten it was like getting a nice raise. Now that all 3 are in school I have lots of fun money.
They are milestones. First its getting them out of diapers. Then its on to school and no daycare. At least with daycare there is a tax deduction for that. Not so much for diapers.

The wife and I have already talked it over if we have another kid one of us is quitting our jobs and staying home. Most likely me as she currently makes a little more. Would love being able to spend all day with the kids but I think I would lose my mind sitting around all day and not working

Going to run all custom rods this year, which is pretty easy because I make them in my spare time. Going to build off the Bass Khang ice blanks. Maybe one day I can get business like TUCR or Thorne Bros… maybe

I bought my wife a new Precision and Bullwhip, both of my sons got new Bullwhips (32” for my 9 year old and 29” for my 7 year old) and I ordered a new custom DS. New reels for the new rods. Few hundred bucks at Rapala (restocked my VMC spoons and ordered a comprehensive assortment of no. 3 Rippin Raps as well as some no. 4 and 5 Slab Raps), the Otter organizer net and storage hammock, Otter light kit, and now I’m looking at purchasing a snowmobile…

I have got my TUCR precision this week and just got every color of the #3 Rippin’ Raps my local fleet farm had, so 7. Also planning on buying a new rod case and a good set of ice cleats at the ice expo. Keep stocking up on new jigs when I stop in the local bait shop too.

We have 2 kids. Oldest is 7 and the girlfriend stayed home with her til kindergarden. Youngest is almost 5 weeks old now and she is staying home with him as well. We figured that she would work basically to pay for daycare so why pay someone else to spend time with your kid. With her staying home and taking care of the kids full time she got to experience all the “firsts” with our first child and will get to be there to experience them again with the new baby.

Picked up two 5a batteries for my Makita 18v drill. Use that with Nils 6” auger. The 3a batteries work great. Never need my spare on the ice. But my Makita circular saw takes down a 3a pretty fast. So I got a good price at Home Depot at the Makita 36v tool display. Figure I need them anyway so I’ll use them on ice.
