Buddys got a 250 Verado on a 2075 Tyee and absolutely loves it. He’s mainly a jig guy on big lakes so the 36v on front takes care of all the slow stuff for him. Getting point a to point b is lightning.
My opinion is the SHO. Although I have no personal experience, the reliability of a Yamaha is tough to beat. This is coming from a past Yamaha owner who now owns a Merc.
Hate to break the bad news but Yamaha does not offer the SHO 200 in a long shaft for some reason. Just bought a Skeeter MX1825 rated for 200 and had the Yamaha choice of the SHO 150 and the offshore 200. The 150 does really well on this boat and runs about 48-50 MPH.I was told by the dealer that I would only get 2-3 MPH by going to the 200 and that cost was almost $2500. Not disapointed itn eh 150 at all.

Yamaha has been good to me.
I know guys who say the same about Merc.
that’s weird. haven’t heard anyone singing the praises of Mercury in about 20 years. My vote goes for Yamaha or Suzuki. I have a 140 Suzuki myself and cant say a bad thing about it so far. Only reason I chose that over Yamaha was that I got 3 more years of warranty and the cost was less
I am not much of a singer, but all the mercury outboards I have owned have been great. I have always wondered why there is so much dislike for mercury. I don’t have any experience with the specific engines that the op is looking at. Unless something changes, my next boat will also have a mercury on the back.
