What kind of minnow is this?

    Hello,

I caught this minnow barehanded swimming along the surface the other day in a small lake in Northern Indiana. Can anyone help me identify it? It’s been bugging me for days and I cannot find another picture of one anywhere. Translucent body with a silver stripe down the middle and no (barely) dorsal fin.

So translucent that I can’t even see it. coffee

Sorry, I was assuming I’d see a pic.

Silverside? Not as common up there.

That’s it! The thinner ones upper right. Sorry, thought I successfully attached a picture. Interesting that it’s rare in those parts (right on the Indiana Michigan border) as I certainly have never seen one.
    Thanks!

I learned something new too. Since I’ve only seen them down here I thought they were a Florida/southeast minnow. And the map makes it look like they are a saltwater fish too? I need to Google more info.

I see pods of them swimming the surface in the pond at work. Pretty easy to spot their erratic wakes.
