The silver plate on top of the gunnel that is. It’s been on since I bought it in 2013, doubt it is from the factory, guy before me did use the boat on green bay and was a warden boat before that (if any of this helps determine). It’s a 2001 pro sport. Im guessimg some kind of track mount or maybe downrigger mount? it has two rows of threaded holes that are spaced just right for the hole pattern width for my scotty rod holder bases, but spaced to far to put all 4 bolts in, just the top or the bottom row. Perhaps this is a universal spacing?

Would be curious if they are spaced right that I could put a track on it, would make a way better rod holder set up for trolling than what I’m doing now

    Possibly down rigger mounting plates?

May have been used to mount a trolling board across the back of the boat. Some mount their riggers and more holders to that board and can take it off quickly.
    Its like a version 1.0 track system…

Kinda what I thought it was something like that.

Anyone see any danger in mounting my rod holders to it like the second picture with just two bolts? Just trolling cranks or bottom bouncers, no downrigger or anything like that.

Why don’t you just pull the plate off, drill a few more holes so that you can install all the rod holder bolts, and reinstall it? Should be a quick fix, and then you won’t have to worry about it.

thought crosses my mind but then I’d have several open holes I’d have to deal up from that plates bolts (at least the ones I can reuse anyway). Not the end of the world but seeing them would annoy me.

No, I’m saying leave the plate there, but temporarily remove it to drill a few additional holes for your rod holder bases.

I don’t think you are understanding his suggestion. There should nothing new to “seal up”. The holes you are adding will be for the other two bolts to mount the rod holder. You will be putting NO additional holes in the boat itself. Are not the rod holder bolts you are presently using only threading into the plate?

Why don’t you just pull the plate off, drill a few more holesDrill and tap these holes in the plate only) so that you can install all the rod holder bolts, and reinstall it reinstall the plate using the existing holes and bolts)? Should be a quick fix, and then you won’t have to worry about it.
