What is the name of the glow buckshot rattle spoon?

My buddy is looking for a specific rattle spoon that he has used for years. We can not find this color buckshot rattle spoon made by northland tackle at any store or any site. Northland tackle does not have any information about it either. Some resources think it’s a super glo red fish (which we compared and it is not). The original packing says glo orange. Does anyone have any information or know where we can find it? Thank you!

The difference in lure color comes from the different colors of glow pigments in the paints. The brighter one is glow red. The glow orange glows almost as red as the glow red but there is a slight difference. Glow orange is not a common color anymore because the two colors are so close in color while glowing.

I use a lot of the glow in color pigment in making soft plastic baits and stopped doing the glow orange because there is so little difference between the red and orange.

I think its the old glow red fish. The newer ones are slightly different color on the back. It is one of my all time favorites. I had one tied on one of my jiggin rods without ever coming off for at least 5yrs.

Here’s a picture of the front. It’s the same basic design of the red fish with an orange glow. It works really well on Lake Ontario. Seems to glow much brighter than the standard redfish. Any info on if there are any available would be great. Thanks again for the information.

This. I hadn’t need to get the new/replace red glow one.

Check out the Scheels exclusive colors. I bought an all red one there this year and it looks a lot like the one in your picture. All glow, no foil sticker on the front.

I think they might have had an orange one too but the red looks more like your red vs the glow redfish looking pink.

Scheels glow red on left and glow red buckshot on right.

Thanks for the information guys. Tucker if you don’t mind can you tell me if this is similar to the sheels glow lure when charged?

I’ll send this forum thread up the chain at Northland Tackle.
We’ll see if they still have any laying around at the Bemidji warehouse.

Chad, I’ll have to charge it up tonight and let you know. It looks like the picture has more of an orange tint to the glow?

That is the Glo Redfish from a few years ago. The difference was caused by a manufacturing change and Northland has since gone back to the more “pinkish” glow red. The “pinkish” glow red gives you a much brighter and longer lasting glow. It also allows for each lure to stay more consistent. Scheels has an exclusive Glow red color that has a more orange tint to it but no baitfish image sticker or additional paint on the front.

Do you think they would have any more? Or anyone who may have any left over.

Scheels glow red on the left and standard glow redfish on the right. The Scheels red definitely has more orange in the glow pigment than the redfish has.

The $100,000 question is: does it make a difference in catch rate?

Thanks for the comparison! I’ve been looking at the sheels exclusive buckshots but I can’t find anything bigger than 1/8 once. It’s hard to fish the heavy current and still see your lure on my electronics. Do they make anything bigger in the sheels jig?

Looking online it does look like the Scheels colors only come in 1/16 and 1/8.

If your buddy is really looking for something specific i bet he could find a powder paint or dip in the color he likes and paint his own.

It took awhile and a few bucks on powder paints and all the other gear but I think my buddy will like one of these jigs. If he doesn’t hm and I may have a problem ????. I really appreciate the help. Any information on glow powderpigment and matte binders For painting jigs would be greatly appreciated. Looks like I’ve picked up another hobby.
