What is the most you would spend on a bass lure?

With shipping I spent almost 30. Its a lure that is discontinued so it was an E-Bay purchase. Nothing else exactly works like this one, and I will get maybe between 50 -100 fish before a pike finally snips it. I once lost 3 in 20 minutes because I kept casting into an area full of pike and the current in the area had them hitting it sideways and they kept getting their teeth on the line. Would not throw my 30 buck one into that spot!

Well I mean Chatter Baits are like $15 a peice, glide/swim baits go from $20-$1000 depends on your style of fishing.

I love the old school DT Thugs, those puppes are getting up to $25-$30 on ebay now.

For a bass lure, probably $50. Thank God you didn’t ask about musky lures.

No kidding. I don’t even hardly musky fish yet the kid and I have multiple lures kissing that 100 to 130 dollar mark.
For bass I try and keep it below 20 bucks on average. I bought every clacking rap I could find a few years back and now they are 25 to 30 on ebay

Next time try a fluoro leader material leader. Not regular fluoro, has to be the leader material, get 12 to 15lbs and you won’t get bit off. I’ve fished the same pike tip up all winter and have caught many pike on the one with 12lbs leader material. It’s impressive how tooth resistant it is.

It depends what size bass do they guarantee it’ll catch? If I can catch a 12lb bass up here in MN well that’s worth 200 bucks easy. Also depends if I’m buying it for artistic or sentimental value over fishing value. A hand painted lure that I find personally pleasing might get me to spend some money.

Yikes, that’s spendy. For bass, I might go $4.00. I really prefer the Wal Mart special crankbaits that are $1.99. I don’t get so heated when a snag confiscates one.

Megabass jerk baits are about 25 bucks each. I’ve got a few. That’s the most I pay for a bass lure.

I’m not sure if I have paid over $20 for a single lure or not. If I have it would have been a Jackell Pompadour, Megabass Popmax, TT Mad Maxx Frog, or Deps Buzzjet. It has been a number of years since I made any of those purchases, so I have forgotten. I finally broke down and splurged on a Jackall Rerange jerkbait about a month ago $18. I have been following those on eBay for a couple of years now.

The musky dudes spend a lot but because of leaders I guess they don’t loose as much, I cannot use a leader because it would wreck my feel with this lure. First time I have spent more than 20 on a bass lure.

I’ve spent around $40 trying to get into some of the lower tier glide baits. Other than that I’m pretty cheap. I still can’t get myself to pay $25 for arguably the best bait on the planet right now the Vision 110 jerkbait…..It’s bad enough getting those $18 chatterbaits bitten off by pike.

I have spent some stupid money on muskie lures. But in 16 years I can still count how many I have lost on one hand. I would need multiple hands to keep track of how many bass lures I lose each year. The last two years I have volunteered to be a high school bass league boat caption and thought about a go fund me page. They average losing x3 lures a night each. Surprising some of the cheap options for Temu are quite good. Most just need the hook filed a bit.

Are you supplying the kids tackle ? I was captaining for my nephew and his buddy, so they had their own tackle.
This year I’m doing it for Mason and his buddy. Luckily Mason works like a banshee any time he is free and built his own really nice tackle box with his own cash. And obviously 100s of things I’ve given him or bought him. But his buddy will supply his own tackle.

I believe this has been asked prior, I just don’t remember your answer. What high end Musky lure’s have you spent high $ on? Do you believe they actually catch more fish for you? Barfighters and Leviathans are 2 high end baits that come to mind. I know you are a big fan of the Beaver Baits. I still need to get one of those and try on Big Pike in Canada. I did pick up a few Large glide hard baits used by Bass fishermen to try in Canada this year. Just hope the hardware is strong enough.

I gave them a bunch of stuff I didn’t use so they could fill up their tackle boxes. The first year I did replace a lot but stopped because it got to be too much. Last year I didn’t donate as much. This year I am thinking trade. Like if you wash my boat you can have a couple of lures. At the end of every tournament day the kids do get some kind of lure for participating from the organization.

Good on you for helping out with the high school bass league. I’ve thought about signing up for the local one here. The Sartell / Sauk rapids team is Massive and is always looking for additional boat captions

It’s a lot of fun. There are many high schools looking for boat captions if you have time and a boat. Just reach out to your local high school and they will get you set up with some kids.

There are some benefits for being caption like discounts on rods, reels, and tackle.

$25 would be the new record for me when it comes to a bass lure.

Go on ebay and you can get them from 17 bucks to 21 bucks and they have all the hard to find colors. They are killer for early and late season walleye

I picked up 3 of the bigger hard glide baits from a buddy who has tried tons of them. I mostly purchased them for Large pike in Canada but may have to throw them for Bass a few times.
I’d love to try some of those Vision 110’s for some of our fall Walleye fishing, but with often getting 3-4 husky jerks bit off a outing, No way would I be fishing 25.00 lures.

Before someone says why not fishing a leader, The bait just does not fish the same even with Fluro leaders and the # of fish fall way off when using either Fluro or steel.

I haven’t bought any of them although I think I might pick up a few this spring with a gift card I have. So I can’t tell you what color of that particular jerkbait I like around here. I throw the KVD jerk from Strike King and have had great success with the bone color (throw that the most), as well as the blue back/chartreuse, and then a natural bluegill. I will probably pick similar colors with the 110’s when I pick them up. I know there is one color of them that is the most popular but I don’t remember which one it is. I’d have to look at a few articles a read awhile back. Or you could see what Palaniuk just won with at Okeechobee because he was throwing a Vision jerk.

Here’s a good video with BP talking about color selections for his Megabass jerkbaits.
