With the white and black ears I would say cougar/mountain lion(same thing) as well.

Actually the picture is the back of the ears, cougar do not have markings on the back of the ears. It most definitely is a bobcat by the markings on the back of the ears. No question about it.

Ice CapPosts: 2161August 19, 2019 at 7:19 am #1874331I’ve been around plenty hose cats and that’s not one of them! That’s a cougar and I’ve been around plenty of them as well! Very dangerous they are.
B-manPosts: 5813August 19, 2019 at 8:45 am #1874343I’m telling you, it’s most definitely a hose cat. Seen lots in my days of trapping.
August 19, 2019 at 9:34 am #1874353Trail cams are never the “best images” and I find myself split in my opinion for the reasons below.
1- looking at the front of the animal you can see the inside of the far front leg and appears to have patterning which is bobcat. Pattern is very faint or non existent elsewhere though
2- the ears have me thinking mt lion. They are blurry in photo but seem more rounded, and also the dark backside. Google images of “Mt lion head” has several images where the backside is darker and also starts to show some white markings.
3- height it appears to be touching most of the undergrowth, but without a true scale I don’t know how tall that is so it could be either.
Do you have any other images? We can’t see the tail which is always a definite answer between bobcat and mt lion.

No other pics, just wish it would have been a little further away from the camera. The farmer next door stopped in a couple months ago and told me he just saw a cougar crossing the field when he was planting beans.
tanglerInactivePosts: 812ClownColorInactiveThe Back 40Posts: 1955August 19, 2019 at 2:48 pm #1874436It “looks” cougar’ish but it appears to be so low to the ground…very small. How high is the trail camera? 4’? So he’d to tell from that pic.

There was a confirmed cougar sighting Michigan just a couple weeks ago….could be the same cat your neighbor saw.
August 19, 2019 at 3:10 pm #1874443I see no resemblance.
Hey!!! She bought me a couple drinks the other night! Never got her name…..
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813August 19, 2019 at 4:12 pm #1874451I would have swore it was a cougar, but after seeing this pic and then considering the trail cam pic the animal is obviously moving I am fairly certain its a bobcat.

I lived in Mankato for 4 years. That’s nothing like the cougars I met down there.

And look closely at the back of the ear that’s visible. Large black patch over white.
The op’s cat is not a cougar.
August 19, 2019 at 4:53 pm #1874458My two cents is the picture of bobcat the ears are not furry like the cougar picture. My vote cougar.
