I’m trying to choose between two ice rods for walleye….a St Croix Avid Jigging Series rod or a Tuned Up Custom Rods Inferno. Which one would be better? I fish with 1/8-1/4 oz lures…so if I went with the St Croix what action should I get?

Either one in Medium power would get the job done.

Better is preference, since the Avid featured a lightweight carbon tennessee handle and Inferno is cork.

If you’re using 1/8-1/4 I’d go with a medium light St. croix mojo ice ice got one and love it but then again I don’t have a TUCR so I can’t speak for them but I do love my st croix.

Have you ever felt an avid? Whats the difference between the Mojo and the Avid?

I haven’t fished with an Avid but when I was buying the mojo I did feel it in hand and the only difference I could fathom was the handle on the Avid is much bulkier and didn’t feel as nice in my hand. I am also not one for the tape on reel seats it

I really like the Inferno ML 30″ It is a pretty good rod for the price. It does work well for 1/8oz spoons. That is what we designed it for.

Just checking…you meant the medium action, right? I don’t think it comes in a medium light…

Correct, it is listed as a medium. But it is a little lighter in power, than a comparable medium from other manufactures.

Thanks for the input! I’m gonna go with the inferno…

The Inferno in Medium is a really nice rod for the money IMO.
