It’s certainly made me buy more fishing stuff than I probably need.

Greatly shortened the learning curve to catching fish.

Meet many good folks in different capacities.

The IDO forums gets refreshed far more than should be, for a guy who has worked relatively solo for sometime and does way too much of it it provides a short relief from physical labor and gives the brain food for thought, or BS to shovel, and everything in between. toast

Made some friends, even if I have not met all of you. Taught me a lot. Gave me a place to ask questions/advise and get answers from folks with real world experience. And helped a lot of boring time pass. Thank you all!

That you can only catch big walleyes on rippin raps, jiggin raps, blades and plastics. Any other technique is irrelevant.

I’ve only met sheldon, sparkels, and EPG in person but we ALL seem like one big dysfunctional family, but happy-mostly.
IDO has cost me lots of cash.I wish you boys and girls would keep your hot baits to your self.I have enough, your not helping someone with an addiction.
I really enjoy the humor and bantering back and forth, keep the BS flowing folks.I’ve learned some useful $hit and some not so useful $hit so thats good for the most part.

Karl a little advise, you tried Hamms and lived a little scarred but alive.I recommend you leave the Spam to profesionals don’t push your luck

Helped put first Rainy Lake trip together with guide. Convinced me Sno-Suit was worth the money. Proved to myself, I know the difference between a Bus, Train and airplane when making posts till I reach 2,000.

    Another new guy here.
The biggest thing I have learned is bodies of water I always wanted to fish.
A couple off the top of my head. Rainy lake. Not only a few areas to look for fish on but general research of the lake. Rainy river techniques and what to expect as well as general information.

Been here a long time. Without IDO/FTR I would have never have learned how to back up a boat trailer, clean a duck, fix a furnace, overhaul a outboard or a car,and the list goes on…More importantly, IDO gave me coffee at Everts with Dean, RRR, BK, and Shooter. The knowledge and insight on all sorts of topics was priceless! Friends I will never forget! I check this site daily for the latest. Thank you all for all the good reads!

    Notorious POP here….. yay

IDO had been a wonderful site to brush up on learning new skills and fine tuning some old ones. Been great entertainment watching the countless fishing videos by James and the crew. Engaging in some hilarious and often meaningless conversations with other outdoorsman. Helped me become the mega meme maker I didn’t know I was…. And of course meeting many fine folks in-person at gtg’s and creating friendships that I hope last forever. One of those of course being my best friend, that silly red head Sharon!

Learned a ton on Fish the River, EFN and IDO. Spent better part of two years trying to troll up a walleye in the river back then. Sometimes I do a little better tan that now. Met a lot of great people and learned of a lot of great places to fish.

Joel Nelson, TUCR Noodle rods, and how to properly use tungsten jigs. That man with those rods and those jigs taught me a lot more about catching panfish than I thought I needed to know. Really helped up my gill game for sure and for that I’m forever thankful. I never would have had that kind of exposure without IDO.

My favorite episodes are James and Joel just catching a mess of gills/crappies.

WHAT HAS IDO DONE FOR YOU?
Well, I was a lurker for a long time back when because everyone knew that the web was a bad place to open yourself up to. I tried to follow James fishing a much as I could, but it was tough sometimes as I was traveling the USA for work. So I do go back a long way before I logged in, I think FTR was a different handle maybe Wood Butcher or Peg Leg, Ell I don’t remember.

WHAT IDO HAS DONE FOR ME.?

The information that has come out from IDO has been phenomenal, both through the forum and the television/YouTube!
I’ve sold gear, I’ve bought gear (and maybe buying some more now to be determined, who knows ehh, Dutchboy??)

I’ve hopefully made some new friends!
Sharon, Dutchboy, glenn57, suzuki, maddog, big_g, Brian Klawitter, Dennis Williams, Randy Wieland, Mr.Beads (and I forgot who you prior to ButtHurt, nhamm? Iff’n you are not pushing the envelope you are not having any fun! lol), epg, mossydan, now here is a maybe past forum contribuiter that had cancer and I lost touch with! , riverruns, dog2th, TheFamousGrouse, shane123. There are many others but I hopefully didn’t miss anyone that was special enough to mention.

I’ve defiantly met some great friends!
    Steve Iverson “Got Wood?”
Kevin @ Smoove Move Seats and crew “What a Great bunch of guys! Break time!!
Sheryl and Sheldon Thompson this friendship will be on going for a long time and past that. Well, I don’t know what else to say!! My other Brother from a different mother and father.
    Tom Sawvell,
James Holst a couple of times, LOW and the Miss river,
I’ve met a few others but it escapes my mind as to who.

I apologize if I did not mention someone that was meant to be stated.

I hope to make it to the next IDO get together. It would be great to meet all of you in person. I think someone ( Sharon ) should pick a date and get it out here. That way people will have it on the calendar and can plan around it. I think another Chili cook contest would be really fun. I like to think I make a great chili, I’d like to see how it match’s up against others. Maybe add in a beer and bourbon tasting. Everyone could bring their favorite and everyone could get a small sample to try.

It allowed me to meet BK, and to give him a sample of my Dad’s venison baloney, plus a trip or two with him at night! ( I’m still a dedicated walleye guy)

Forgot to mention a valuable life lesson I learned. After taking a few IDO guys out fishing with me I learned a 1/2 day isn’t the half of the day from sun up to sun down. I obviously was confused and learned it’s 6 am to noon. Not 5am to 8pm

A few things from back in the day that I get a kick out of when I think about them:

Listening to the radio chatter on Mille acs lake from other IDO members.

Going down to Evert’s Resort and playing bumper boats by the dam.

    The Saugerama.

The one year I volunteered for Deans Big Brother event. The kid and his big brother asked if they could fish with me the next year. It was the last year. I regret not doing it earlier.

Getting to take my nephew out on a Brian K. guided catfish and fall sturgeon trip.

Finding out about White Bear hoodies. I love those things.

    Hmm where to start…

Met a lot of great people, many have become friends, clients or both. Been humbled by Chili. Started my acting career. Met @MattMoen in Puerto Rico, where he one upped me in tarpon, but I drank all his beer, so I call that a win jester . Joked with BK, learned he has better taste in bourbon and handgun training (seperately whistling ) than he does beer or processed meats, which is still way better than his technological repair advice jester . Bought and sold many a thing, even won a thing or two. I think I’ve even learned a bit about fishing along the way as well! rotflol

It would’ve been a win if it was better beer!
