Dang-don’t those engines start to cancel each other out at some point?

The twin motor setup allows you to have joystick controls, which, once you try it, especially with a large boat or pontoon that can be difficult to control in windy or tight conditions, you will never want to maneuver a boat without it. I can’t explain to you how convenient and accurate it is. Amazing. You pull up to a dock on the downwind side with a 20 mph wind, and a 28 foot long pontoon full of people will essentially push itself perfectly sideways into the wind and draw up tight to the dock just by pushing a joystick.

Whatever happened to seamanship and piloting skills?

Not knowing anything about the new pontoons, how big are the gas tanks when they running that large of hp? my triton bass boat carried 54 gals and the thought of filling that would make me weak in the knees

Pretty sure they just use the toons as tanks. jester

There’s a giant tri-hull pontoon with dual 300-HP Mercs on Roy Lake of the Gull Chain. Looks like a lot of fun. Kudos to that guy. He can’t take that money with him when he dies.

The nice thing about pontoons is that because of their construction, there is one to fit anyone’s needs. When I bought my tritoon and was tossing around ideas on some mods, the dealer was ready to call up the head of the manufacturer to spec out a design and a cost. Want it a few feet longer? Just add a piece to the middle of each toon and extend the deck.

TMC out of Wisconsin and the one up in Grand Rapids are examples of factory-direct as well. No dealer in the mix.

with that much HP on the back end, ever worry about air going under the deck platform and having the toon flip up like a kite when you are cranking down the lake?

Go to you tube and search for world’s fastest pontoon boat or Brad Rowland. 106 mph one way down a lake and 107 on the return. Then later he went like 114, but in a boat that was specifically made for high speed runs only.
