As I sit here eating a Avocado I thought to myself, I believe I eat far more of these than most people do. I probably eat 4-5 Avocado’s a week. Mostly just plain with a little salt and pepper. Sure wish they were no so crazy expensive. Another one I thought of was Popcorn. I eat air popped popcorn probably at least 3 times a week. Its my go to evening snack. Curious what some foods are that you think you eat more of than the average person.

My wife and sisters were just talking about avocados at Christmas.
Apparently it’s said that they taste exactly like “a clean penis”
Now I can never eat one again

Unrelated, but for some reason we’ve been eating a lot of eggs lately lol
January 15, 2025 at 10:11 am #2310772“Good” or at least not terrible things I eat a ton of: Jerky, Peanuts, Avocado, Fresh eggs from our chickens, Popcorn, Oatmeal
“Bad” things I consume too much of: Tortilla chips and salsa are a major weakness, cheeses, beer and bourbon…although I’m halfway through Dry January and am managing fine
January 15, 2025 at 10:12 am #2310773I hope that in the afterlife I do not have to face all of the chickens that I’ve consumed over the years. I eat various chicken dishes probably 5 days per week. Wings, strips, nuggies, breasts, thighs… I like chicken a lot.
January 15, 2025 at 10:15 am #2310774I don’t snack much. I mostly just eat at meal time. Don’t have much of a sweet tooth either.
Pastachios, almonds, cashews, and other various mixed nuts come to mind for this guy.
January 15, 2025 at 10:15 am #2310775Cheese. Usually with every meal. And an above average quantity of milk.
January 15, 2025 at 10:17 am #2310776I really like my fruits and vegetables. Especially garden stuff.
Yea chips are a weak moment and so are bakery sweets.Huge meat of all varieties fan. If I hit the frig, and there’s fruits and vegetables in there I’ll go after them first.
Oh and ice cream, is like ice cream!

I’ll have to take someone else’s word for that. Hope I can now get that thought out of my mind when I eat my next one – Thanks

Bad time for that. Wife purchased a 18 count egg from Costco last night and I think she said she paid close to 8.00. Egg prices are way up again. I hear another bird flu outbreak is to blame

100% because of that, and its not going away anytime soon either.

It would be interesting to document/quantify. I’m guessing my yearly intake:
10+ pounds of fresh
a few gallons of hot sauce
a few quarts of driedJanuary 15, 2025 at 11:06 am #2310794I usually have Sushi for 2 delivered once a week, but it’s only for me.

Our house eats a lot of sushi…we introduced it to our daughter a couple years ago and that’s all she ever wants. I don’t even think sushi was invented when I was 9.
Same with avocados. I don’t even remember hearing about avocados until about 2010. I don’t think they existed before then.
January 15, 2025 at 11:24 am #2310798Lately it has been pickles, usually baby dills, I go through 2-3 jars a week.

You gotta a good spot? I’m always looking to broaden my Sushi experience. Love me some good Unagi.James AlmquistPosts: 465January 15, 2025 at 11:48 am #2310805Same with avocados. I don’t even remember hearing about avocados until about 2010. I don’t think they existed before then.
I tried them in the 60s at my Aunt and Uncles and loved it. They went to Cali a lot and knew how to make good guacamole.
January 15, 2025 at 11:58 am #2310808Fishthumper egg prices are absurd and most of the store bought eggs taste like nothing after eating farm raised ones. My daughters sell ours at $4 a dozen and as soon as I send a group message out to family/friends we’ve got people lined up.
Our break even cost is about $2 per dozen to cover feed.

I eat a fair amount of Sushi as well.

January 15, 2025 at 12:08 pm #2310811Onions and garlic here… I do the cooking at home about 4 days a week and somehow about every meal has onions and garlic in there. I have never really thought much about it either till now.

Good Guacamole is what got my love of Avocado’s jump started as well.

I love me some good dill pickles. Went on a bender on them a few months back myself.

You gotta a good spot? I’m always looking to broaden my Sushi experience. Love me some good Unagi.Believe it or not here in the St. cloud area both Sam’s club and the Coborns do a great job of sushi. Easy to stop in and pick some up on my way past often. Like everything, I wish it was not so expensive.

I wish I knew a local farmer around here to get eggs from. My wife eats a crazy amount of them. So these cost either she is going to need to cut back or we will go poor.
January 15, 2025 at 12:27 pm #2310820I guess count me in the large quantity of eggs crowd. So much that my LDL cholesterol levels were high when the VA drew blood on me in December. That’s my conclusion anyway. Hard-boiled eggs are a huge go-to for me, especially when I’m doing outdoor training multiple days a week in the summer and don’t care to have a cooler with an ice pack, I’ll just bring several of those. Add in eggs for supper a few nights a week in the summer because we have so dang many (we have chickens) that on some days I’ve probably eaten 8 eggs a day and 12-18 a week. Gonna try and slow that down a little bit.
Gitchi GummiPosts: 3244January 15, 2025 at 12:31 pm #2310824egg whites and turkey sausage everyday for breakfast. high protein, low fat. Couple hard boiled eggs in the afternoon to hold me over between lunch and dinner.
I also am very conscious of my salt intake. Once you start limiting your salt intake to safer levels, you’d be surprised how salty everything tastes. I even make my own taco seasoning so it can be salt free. The store bought taco seasoning tastes like saltly chili powder.
