What elec down rigger

I am sure this probably has been discussed prior but couldn’t find link. Any preference on an elec down rigger looking at cannon mag 10. Friends dad has big Johns any input appreciated

I have a pair of mag 10 stx and love them. Two seasons and no issues. Blew a couple fuses but that’s it.

I highly recommend the new stx models over a older used ones.

Out West, it has always been Cannon vs. Scotty (Chevy & Ford). Makers like Big Jon and Penn are there but rarely mentioned. Personally, I have Cannon riggers but that’s probably because that’s what I learned to use on a buddy’s boat. One can get more downrigger for their money with the Scotty. And if you plan on stacking, Scotty has an advantage there. Scotty’s can run braid while Cannon’s can not. The levers and knobs on a Scotty drive me nuts but again, it might be because I’m used to a single switch on my Cannons. See if you can catch a ride with someone here to try their riggers and see what you like.
