What does a "Stay home order" mean for you?

How will this disrupt any fishing you have planned? We have a trip planned April 7-12th and our route takes us through Kansas City which as of Tuesday, will be in a Stay home order. Reading through the order, it doesn’t say anything about NOT being able to drive through. It does say that outdoor activities such as going to the park, exercise, running, etc are all acceptable. We are going to a little cabin in the woods for our final destination, so we are still a go.

For those who have trips planned, will you still go?

I plan on hitting superior soon. “shelter in place” won’t stop me from trying

I agree rubberduck. It seems it depends where you’re at on what they call it…Shelter in place vs stay home, but are all one in the same. Do you need to cross state lines for your Superior trip? Thats the one thing we were concerned about, is having to drive through a city where there is an active order. Nothing here yet….just so happens it is on our travel route.

    Good luck btw!

Driving and stopping at gas stations? Using rest rooms? Fast food stops? All points you could spread the virus further.

If we are all going thru this viral/economic disaster(some would argue the viral) than make it worth it and do your part by not spreading the stuff, even if you “aren’t infected”.

What do you do when you get there? Bait shops? Grocery store? All very valid questions.

We have a trip planned in Minnesota for early June. Won’t know if that’s still happening until closer to the date, i’d imagine. Camper season is supposed to begin May 1st at our place in WI. Doubting that will happen at this point.

This guy gets it. Believe me, I feel the pain. I just cancelled our trip to Florida that I have been looking forward to since Decemeber.

This situation isn’t about you, it’s about what is good for everyone. It sucks, but do your part.

Tell me about it! I actually thought last week went better than expected, but this weekend was a gong show.

So If the bait shop is the gas station, grocery store, bait shop all in one I shouldn’t buy a scoop?

We are going on our annual snagging trip for paddlefish…so there is no bait needed. The nice thing with the cabin is we usually take food and cook there vs. going into town as it is an hour one way. Gas stations on the way down are a legitimate concern, but that would be the only issue for us that I can see.

    Crazy times that’s for sure…

Pretty sure bait is not considered “essential” and you can easily purchase gasoline with pay at the pump. I am of the assumption that fishing by yourself or with one other person will be acceptable. Going on a trip where you plan to stay with a bunch of other people? Probably not. Someone asked the question about whether golf courses will be able to operate and the Governor specifically said that the pro shop can remain open as long as social distancing rules are followed and you don’t play in a group. Basically you need to avoid as many people as possible.

Be smart about it is what I’m saying. Honestly if I had to go to bait shop, which I think we all can understand to a certain degree, wear a mask, put on vinyl gloves, wear a tyvek suit, pay card, and clean off all materials after. And don’t go back. Suit might be a bit much but not out of the question if you are from out of town. They might find it courteous and funny at same time.

I have 2 1/2 dozen worms for suckers, so I’m good for a bit.

I might finally go 100% artificial and not drag along any live bait.

Have you been out yet? My kids love digging worms from the garden, so I should be all set.

Been out several times Ralph, last time I got two bites which I was pretty excited about but no fish yet. Most feeder creeks still chilly.

That conflunece sucker Mahto posted in pool 2 got me super freaking pumped for some sucker action.

Ford dam eddies suck, CR dam eddies suck, shingle no good, rice, etc all struck out.

Good thing I have plenty of canned corn on the shelf. I’m within walking distance of the river, or should I say it’s walking distance for a 20 year old.

I have a trout stream that flows through the back side of my acreage which in 24 years I’ve only fished a handful of times. Maybe this will be an opportunity to get to know it intimately.

If the ice goes out soon enough maybe a canoe ride out on a small lake or some backwaters will be in order.

For me it’s a patience’s game. Pay my dues now, and I’ll get to enjoy everything in December when everyone is at home with the baby boom woot

My only escape from home has been an occasional drive in my truck. I cant possibly be a risk to anyone doing that. Otherwise my wife and I have stayed home with occasional dog walks. We have had a new puppy for 3 weeks so we were already accustomed to this existence. We are doing our part to help the situation. We are both working from home but it looks like my income will be cutoff before hers.

Exponentially increasing my fishing. Made the decision to leave the city and now living at the lake full time. What’s a guy to do will all this free time coffee

For those questioning if I”m doing my part, I have to. I”m on a self imposed 14 day quarantine starting Saturday. Bought lots of bait on saturday morning and won’t be going back. Ice fishing by myself.

Is it insider trading if I buy stock in pampers or Luvs knowing that in 9 months the population is going to explode??

Nah just smart investing. Kind of like buying minnows now, instead of right before or after the SIP is placed.
