What do you want to be when you grow up/what do you do for a living?

I need ideas on what to do because I am so done with my retail job even though I’ve only been there for like 2 months. The thing is, I feel that regardless of the job I would not be happy. Now, I realize that the point of a job is not to make me happy, but is there truly nothing more than settling into a routine and paying bills? The occasional dopamine rush when buying certain goods and services, celebrating certain events here and there? I’ve had several different jobs, a couple that paid well above the minimum wage, but just…I am so dissatisfied with everything. I don’t want to go on living this way. Is there no more to life than just working?
I don’t even see myself getting married and becoming a housewife.
I think I’ve accepted the fact that I may never be content, but the fact of the matter is I need to find a reliable source of income that I can live with because if I am to even try to be happy I need food, shelter, and the basic necessities.

I apologize for the rant…but I’d like to hear what you guys are doing to see if maybe I can find something that I can work towards.

    Thank you.

What do I want to be when I grow up? Taller. I fish for a living and work to support that expensive habit.

In the immortal words of jimmy soul:

If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So from my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you

I had some cinnamon rolls this morning for breakfast. First piece I grabbed was the middle, and was more like a medium to medium rare cinnamon roll on a scale of doneness, but it still got devoured. Was gooey in a not so good kind of way but the kid made it so you do your part and eat it. Other roll was an outside one, crunchy on the outside, not to where it shatters teeth but the crunch that doesn’t go to well with a pastry.

As to your life questions, you can keep making the cinnamon rolls you’ve been making for years now with your current employment, and eventually you will get good at it and find your place, but it will still be just a cinnamon roll. Or you can toss that recipe into your back pocket and try something new. Sure it may not turn out good right away, or maybe even you decide that recipe isn’t for you either and you try out the next, but that deliciousness that you’ve been searching for will come along eventually. Just got to keep trying different recipes and quit bi@tching why yours keeps turning out the same.

And when it does, you should invite me over bc I love breakfast pastries, seriously, donuts, scones, rolls, those cream cheese cake things that shaped in a rectangle, heck I’ll got down with a bowl of cereal that’s shaped like pastries, all of it, love it.

Good luck. My Friday night craft beer fueled pastry parable is now over.

Pastry parable, that should be a donut shop name for realz.

I wanted to be a baller with 20 inch blades on my impala. I wanted to get laid every night with the swishers rolled tight. I’ve been hitting the highway but not making money the fly way. You and I both, cinnamon rolls.

Sure, it can be “a little sweaty” up there on the stage.

But you’re a “working woman”, and no…I don’t ever see you getting married and becoming a housewife either. roll

And furthermore, I don’t see you as ever becoming content. But you do certainly have a “reliable” source of income and you’re good at it.

I found you too, here’s you your publicity pic…you know you’re out there. blush

You can use that now for your profile, Oh…and welcome to IDO wave

Oh my. In college one of my buds would look at a girl and say “I’m thinkin Arby’s” and they’d be like huh?? While all the boys laughed like the idiots we were.

I thought porn until I discovered the discrimination against men. Over worked and under paid so I gave up on and that and decided not to grow up. I matured a little, but still a kid at heart.

That’s some crazy stuff right there. I’ve heard more than my fair share of them but I’ve never heard of a cinnamon roll.

This site isn’t kind to females. Let’s not blame it on JD either pls.

Well, there are real females like Sharon who we treat well.
Then there are “wannabe” females who don’t fair as well.
Then their are alcohol fueled trolls, sex unknown.

Get a job at the local circumcision company. Pay’s pretty good and you get to keep the tips.

Did you read the OP Dutch? Maybe I’m missing something but seemed like a sincere request for some job ideas. Little different and emotionally written than the typical dude post on here but anyone with a wife or daughter would understand that. There have been plenty of what to do in life posts here that have gotten great responses, but this lady gets stripper and cream frosting in her belly button answers.

Their first post yesterday, that looks to be removed, was an obvious shill question about some scam dog treat that cured* cancer.

Skip all the effort to make a living for yourself. Just find a sugar daddy and outlive him.

I was in the staffing biz for a good long time.

1: are you looking for a job or a career?
2: what do you like to do that makes you happy?
3: take a job until you find a career that makes you happy.

Personally when I grow up I want to retire while floating down the Mississippi in the fall and back up again in the spring.

Dreams really do come true (sometimes it isn’t on our timetable.)
