I didn’t get a weight on it so there will not be a winner. Other than me. Heck of a battle on 8lb. Test and a medium action rod. Probably took about 15-20 minutes to land it.

I think this fish weighed more than that. My guess is it was close to 20. Crazy thick fish. Those things are hard to get a grip on their lower jaw.

Sorry to burst your bubble but that chunky channel cat 32″ long wouldn’t have exceeded 14 lbs.

I don’t even get out a scale until they’re 34″ over and that isn’t even 16 lbs typically.

You need to break 38″ to hit 20# and it better be FAT!!

Look at the ugly mug on that thing.

I’d guess at least 175 lbs.

I’m sure you have a better idea than me. You catch a lot more of them than I do. It just seemed really heavy. I’ve held a fair amount of northern near and over 20lbs and this felt close to what I remember them feeling like. Probably because they are shorter and seem so much fatter.

Maybe your northerns are actually 14-16#s?

I caught one years ago about the same length, and in summer. It weighed 22lbs and change. Im not an expert and not much of a cat fisherman anymore.
