I just got my first pickup. What are things that you always carry in your truck?

Don’t use them very often, but had to pull out the hip waders to launch/load the boat last Friday. Glad they were in there!

    The dog travel kennel.

Floor Jack and some wood blocks.

My list is nearly identical. It’s what dad drilled into us growing up. Yes, we had a lot of chevy’s but no real tool kits.

    In all our cars:
    Tow strap/rope
    Jumper cables’
    Air pressure gauge
Snow brush/scraper combo(leave in all year)
Stocking cap and gloves(leave in all year)
    Shovel(winter only)

    Truck specific:
    First aid kit
    flashlight or headlamp (spare batteries)
    Folding knife
    Actual paper maps
    Toilet paper
2″ hitch and don’t forget the pin
    Duct tape

In addition to much of the items already mentioned, my wife put together a go bag(s). She claims it will sustain us for 3 days. I thought it was silly but given our current situation, maybe not.

It’s a PITA when I need the pickup bed to haul the atv or portable fish house. But she’s happy and that’s important.

The longer you own that truck the more you will acquire. Mine basically looks like a second garage, but 3 things that have been in every truck I’ve owned-ratchet straps, crescent wrench, and a 12 gauge.

I keep a tote in the box with the following: tool kit, two tow straps, jumper cables, ratchet straps, and an extension cord. I usually also have a universal three-way hitch and a 2″ ball 2″ drop hitch floating around in the box. Spare pair of sunglasses in the glove box, some ibuprofen in the center console, and a spare key for both the gate at our farm and for the fish house…it really sucks to forget either one of those.

Maybe….but I carry this stuff in case I come across a Ford that needs something other than gas.

One of those big X shaped lug tools. Change a tire with the stock lug wrench once and you will understand.

    Yep.

On top of the essentials most listed…random bullets. Random lures. 3-4 knives. 3-4 pairs of sunglasses. Bug spray. Multiple Menards rebates I keep forgetting. Air compressor. Golf tees. Fire dept hat that sits on the dash in case I get pulled over. Fishing line. Head lamp. Duck and turkey calls. Binos. Hand sanitizer.

That’s about half the crap I got in my now 8 yo truck.

First aid kit. The army blanket, now full of holes, that I packed in my duffel bag when I got out in 1968.
