Not sure if this was mentioned. But you can buy a quality mulching blade and install it on any crappy $99 mower. They do work wonders.

This is important if you’re mulching the leaves with your mower. If your blade has an end that curves up and is solid without the serrations, it’s not a true mulching blade. The serrations in the bend is what truly makes it a mulching blade. Toro recyclers come with one and someone previously mentioned the gator blades which are also great for mulching.

I use what they call gator blades. They do a great job of mulching both long grass and leaves.

John Deere rider with a bagger.

Mulch them and mulch them again. Then attached the two baggers. I put plastic garbage bags in side the bags and go over them one more time. My piles of leaves are gone with very little effort.

WE get more leaves from the neighborhood than our birch clump, magnolia or oak but the white pine is a mess this time of year with needles. The birch and pine are in the front yard with the magnolia. I mow and bag the leaves and needles about every five days, but with this friggin wind I have to rake the needles every other day. At least its only half of the yard I need to rake. The cones I can put in a bucket and set on the curb and people pick them up for Christmas decorations. One guy said he dries them and uses them to start fires in his fire place.

The oak in the back yard can be a messy sucker too but I just blow the leaves over the fence and out into the park.
