What Do You Carry? – Suggestions

…no, I’m not rehashing debates over caliber of firearms, brands of handguns, etc. What do you carry every day to hold money, cards, and other important things?

My back has been really giving me issues as of late. I’m in my 30s and keep myself in-shape with being active and working out, but a significant football injury along with day to day abuse from my younger years is creating problems. My wife (RN), in-laws (doctor), suggested reevaluating how I sleep, ditching the traditional wallet, avoiding chairs and furniture that are not ergonomic, and stretching every morning. I currently carry a wallet in my back pocket that seems minor but is probably an issue. I need to find something that can fit in a front pocket, hold ~$100 in bills, my ID, one card, and perhaps a fishing license. I’m trying to keep it small as I already have keys, a phone, and a knife often in my pockets.

Does anyone go with solely a money clip and a few cards slid in? Is there something out there that will stand up to abuse? Does ditching a thick wallet really make a difference? Should I invest in a man purse? Should I just ask my wife to pay for everything to avoid the trouble?

I have two coworkers that switched to those wallet phone cases and like it.

I switched from a fully loaded wallet in the back pocket to a front pocket wallet a few years ago. At first I only used a small wallet when traveling but realized I didn’t need to carry everything under the sun with me in my wallet. Total honesty I went on the Jungle website (amazon) and found the highest rated front pocket wallet with a money clip and it’s worked fine for me. Holds multiple cards, license, money clip and a few other things.

    ditch the wallet!

i took an honest look at what i was carrying around, and what i actually needed to carry around. i stripped it down to: driver’s license, debit card, credit card, and some cash.

Ghostek phone cases have a removable slider that holds a few cards and cash. it puts everything in one place (your phone) in your front pocket, and the case works with wireless chargers too. highly recommended!

There is an episode of Seinfeld where George has this very problem. His giant wallet causes back issues lol

    Good topic!

I went to a money clip back when I traveled but since went back to a wallet. Since it’s been a real PITA in my sitting job, I’ve been looking around for something that fits on a cell (since it’s always with me).

PS a photo of your MN Fishing License is just as good as paper.
It’s a good idea to have photos of credit cards too. Hopefully when you lose your phone, it’s locked.

Lulu Leather Goods – space efficient and image of a zander/musky/or perch etched. Tasteful and quality.

Been rocking a rubber band around some cash and cards for 5+ years. No, not the same rubber band – I replace it every couple months.

I’ve been using this ridge card / money holder for several years now. It’s very compact and has been bulletproof. Absolutely no signs of wear. Everything goes in my front left pocket. In these images I have seven credit cards, a health insurance card, and Minnesota fishing license and about $400 in cash on the back. Fits into a tiny compact form factor. I could never see myself going back to a wallet that was placed in the back pocket.

I have a buddy who has a ridge wallet or something like it. His was a prototype. He’s had it for many years and really like it. It always seemed strange to me. The Ridge ones are rather expensive but there are cheaper knockoff ones.

I’ve had a titanium money clip for several years that has held up well and that I really like.

^Is this true now even on border waters? If so, I’m glad to hear it. I could be mistaken…but I thought there was a time where you needed the paper copy on border waters.

I would have a hard time justifying a wallet that costs more than the amount of money I would be carrying around in it.

Thanks for the real world review. I see the ads and wonder if it’s just a gimmick. Looks like a change in my future waytogo

ive always carried my wallet in my front pocket. the size was never an issue for me – probably just something for you to get accustomed to.

wallet and cell phone go i the left pocket. keys in the right. up until 6 years ago a pack of smokes and a lighter would go into the right pocket as well.

Back pockets carry nothing but loose paper on occasion

Is that a coin pocket in this wallet? Geez, haven’t used one of those since the 4th grade for milk money. When I broke a quarter, I usually got 23 pennies back. I hated that since I could barely get them all in and it became really fat!!

Manpurse…..only way to go. More versatile and stylish than a fanny pack and can be used for everyday or a fun night on the town. I highly recommend.

So most posts are talking about something the size of half a deck of cards. Why the heck does my wife need a 25 lb beach bag she calls a purse?

My girl friend carries a bag I basically need to pull the trailer to haul around.

I’m pretty sure it’s a game, when the bill comes she can never find her card roll
