What do you always forget?

Headed up to Webster after the Super Bowl, and I’m making a list of things I need to pack and supplies that I need to buy. So what are the things that you forgot most, so that I don’t have the same problem. Also any info on the bite around Webster/Waubay?

I tend to forget the correct mapping card for my GPS. I work off a checklist now which greatly helps.

Nice list! You do have baggies,my offering was something to put your fish in at the end of the day. I use a garbage sack, I hate having to put them in the bottom of the tub.

I shed a tear over your list. I’m just as OCD. ) I keep my lists in a clear, plastic cover and check things off with a dry erase marker as I load the truck. )

I used to have a nice checklist like fishwater. But I forgot where I put it and where I saved the file.

When taking weekend trips, I used to always forget the ziplock bags. Now I feel like I’m always the guy bringing them for the whole group.

When just heading out local for a few hours or the day, if fishing into the evening, I feel like a headlamp is what I often forget the most. I now just leave one or two in the pickup at all times.

One thing I did not notice on fishwater’s list that I always bring with me, ice cleats.

Was up on Bitter last weekend. Bite was slow in the house. We ended with 15 good size perch and 2 walleyes (four guys). Bring a underwater camera if you have one, helped a lot.

Here’s another list that I dug up years ago off the interweb, it’s got more safety related stuff. I should add ice cleats, but typically just leave them on my boots and have so far stayed away from clothing related items.

Hate to even admit this, but I forget my parka on my last trip up to LOW. Luckily my buddy had a spare and we had nice weather. Once I find the editable digital .doc file I’ll post that, I should probably add a few things yet.. jester

Lists seem way to stressful. First you got to make one, then you forget to put something on it so now you got to remake it, do that a dozen times. Then you have to actually check stuff off it, wheres the pen, pencil, maybe you laminated it, now you need a washable marker. Probably will need a board to keep it on, another thing to lose.

Things will be forgotten, its a givin. Things I might purposely forget…..lots of underwear bc after so many trips don’t think they ever get changed 1x day, maybe that a week. Floss, its a vacation, after a quick finger brushing and youre right back to your morning bloodies. Work schedule, don’t call me bc I don’t have it and don’t care WTF is going on. Nice dinner clothes, if I can’t wear jeans and hat hair isn’t perfectly acceptable I want no part of the establishment. Hair gel, nuff said. Shot glasses, if it cant be poured in a solo or drank straight from bottle not happening. Books, good intentions but again, after so many years always picked up a Budweiser before John Grisham.

I keep stuff together, so I rarely forget something. But if I do it’s the vexilar that is still plugged in to charge, and I turn around because going without that is just not an option! blush

I keep all fishing related tackle in a large plastic tool box with a handle and wheels. Vehicle related tools in a another tote. Just grab the totes and go. I probably have 3 of everything, but it’s nice to have a box dedicated for every task.

The box for ice fishing fits everything from tipups to carb rebuild kits. If I could need it while fishing, it’s in the box.

    Yesterday I forgot my jacket.

    It was relatively warm out….

Did a quick set up and less searching for the best spot…..

Usually forget my reading glasses. Tough tying on hooks and lures without them. At least for an old fart like myself.

There are some impressive lists, but they are not for me. If I am fishing, I do not want the stress of a lengthy check list.

I do forget stuff, but usually it is something minor that I can make do without. Instead of going the route of the list, I like to prep my open water or ice fishing gear when I return from a previous trip. Sometimes when I finish work, it’s nice to not have to think and just hit the lake/river.

My batteries are always charged, the boat is always fueled up, and the gear is either in the boat or the shack waiting.

Lantern mantles and matches. The sparker on the North Star always works at home, but never on the ice!

Never the same thing twice, but here are some:

    -life vests
    -to put the plug in
    -ice scoop
    -gas for the auger
    -paddle for my boat
And others but never: cold or warm beverages, my Vex.

I’m up at college now in Moorhead and I’m in the dorms this first year. There’s not much room in here… So for the most part everything stays in my truck and my fish house stays at my girlfriends brothers apartment garage up here (Thank God he lets me keep it there) Only things I have to bring include my marcum, and minnows and waxies. (I forget my waxies unless I leave them in my camera bag. I even bought a 10 gallon fish tank to keep my minnows alive and not stinking up the whole dorm!

A few years ago my inlaw’s old farm in MN down by the IA border was loaded with pheasants. Had a day off, and the conditions were perfect, dark day, cool, etc. Made the 90 minute drive down there…no shotgun.

At least you cannot forget the plug ice fishing )
Cannot tell you how many times in a year I see that frantic face…”why are my feet wet?” Lol

    I’m a list guy.

About the only time I forget something is when someone tries to help me pack or load and interrupts my OCD train of thought.

Trips I start making a list a week or so in advance.
Some trips, like pdog hunting, I keep for future years.

About 50% of the time, I forget to forget inviting my buddy.

That happened to me this weekend…I guess I get so excited about a good bite that I forget to tell people I would enjoy their company…

Buddy:what are you doing this weekend?
Me: You and I are fishing XXX lake, remember?
Buddy: You literally never told me…but I’ll be there…

    My wife’s phone number.

I won’t answer any calls from numbers I don’t recognize and it’s the craziest thing. Once I set foot on the ice or launch my boat…*POOF* Can’t remember what her phone number is. Then once the boat is loaded or I leave the ice it magically pops back into my brain.
