What Did you Catch them On This Weekend?

Opener turned out to be a great day of fishing despite the winter weather we had. I was surprised to find quality fish up shallow for most of the day Saturday. Texas rigged Rage Bugs and jigs with crawler trailers got the job done. We had two doubles with nice fish and caught around 20 fish. Still shocked they were up on shallow structure in 53 degree water temps. Was expecting to find them on the weedlines waiting to move up. Oh well. Still got into them. Definitely a great start to the season!

What did you catch them on over the past weekend?

Thanks Carter! I’ve definitely heard a lot of mixed reports from the weekend. Some people had great trips like me and some didn’t.

That’s where I figured we’d get them as well but we threw chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and jerkbaits for an hour on the weedline in like 5-10 fow and got nothing. I saw some really nice flooded trees up shallow and I just needed to make a few casts to it (because I love pitching to shoreline structure) and boom. Got on a nice pattern.

I caught mine on a jerk bait with long pauses in an area I could find with the best weed growth. I went 2 hours and only caught 2 fish and then stumbled on to a school of bass by accident to be honest. Then 4 more in about 10 casts and lost 2 more. Funny how 90% of the fish can be in 10% of the water. I’ve been fishing by myself for weeks now so and I don’t do selfies so there aren’t any photos.

Nice! 3/4 of our bass came off of two points with flooded timber on the ends of them. Finding the prime spots always helps!

The water was about a degree warmer there so maybe that played a role.
