I wonder if he didn’t like my comment and replied to my comment which was very benign and a simple observation. He had a little mini rant before my comment.

First off who are you to stigmatize all the Nancy’s out there, you don’t even know all them. Drama? You mean feelings? #allfeelingsmatter big guy. Maybe if people like you weren’t so upfront and honest and forward in person instead of being light and fluffy some us wouldn’t need to hide behind out monitors and be keyboard warriors. Next thing you know you’ll be making fun of my man purse, and it’s utility, like holding tissues bc some us cry alot. Just the other day I saw a hawk attack a squirrel in the front yard. It took an hour long phone call with my mommy, 2 lattes and one session with the therapist before I could even get out of bed that day.

This thread is about a very specific topic and yet folks still feel the need to drag mud into it.

I posted a topic on a touchy subject. Was booted for that. I did notice Tom commented on that topic before it was closed. I didn’t get a chance to read what he had written so cant say if that was the cause but im guessing it was.

After a rocky start years back i had come to be very friendly with Tom. We would message pretty regularly and talked about meeting up so he could give me some maple wood from his cabin for smoking meats.

If he wanted to come back im sure he has options. Whether or not he pursues those who can say. Hope he does. That’s all i have to say on the matter

It’s too bad he is not around anymore. Not the first and probably not the last to leave that brought value to this site. At least for me.
People can say don’t click on the thread if you don’t like it, and that is fine. makes sense. I have had to make a conscious effort to not post or read such topics (I still peak occasionally) as I found that I was starting to make judgments on people that I didn’t think I would. I also found myself getting mad or agitated when I came to IDO and that is really not what I come here looking for.
I guess I don’t understand why such topics are brought up on a fishing site in the first place. There are thousands of sites to discuss other topics outside of hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
I mean I don’t go to an automotive site to discuss lead core techniques. Or go to a cooking site to find out how to get better gas mileage in my truck.
I don’t know I guess I miss the days that the most controversial topics were on slot limits. Maybe it’s just 2020 and how things are going to be now.

Telling people to leave covid out and you make threads with the word covid in it

I assume you are talking about the basketball thread? Covid is the reason the NBA draft is receiving so little coverage this year so yes I did insert the word. Although if you bother to read the thread Covid isn’t even talked about by those responding.

Gone but not forgotten

I follow and sometimes still chat with Tom on Facebook. Its sad to not see and hear his knowledge here anymore. He seems to be up to all of his Normal things. He’s still making some of the coolest looking plastic baits and painted crankbaits, still cooking up some of the best looking foods (Mostly smoked) sharing cool picture of the wildlife and birds in his backyard. He turned 70 back in Nov. Overall he seems to be living the good life. My guess is some people here miss him far more than he misses this site.

Yea same here. I’ve known Tom a long time, he was a wealth if knowledge, even a little friendly banter back and forth.

As someone else pointed out Yea he wasn’t afraid to speak his peace either.
