I reply with hesitation, as I might make somebody’s blacklist as apparently that is where we are as a country, we are now opening discussing blacklisting people for what they believe ( not just in Hollywood either ) Can’t be a good sign on any level that the thought police are moving in. I thought McCarthyism was over in this country, but apparently not. Can’t say this is helping bring our country ” together ”
That being said, I am pretty sure our current President until January 20th the last time I checked the constitution, was not impeached, he was acquitted. I think you have to make your own determination as to why articles were brought and their intent along with the possibility of them succeeding in the Senate.
As far as the election, in case anyone is wondering why so many people are questioning this election, perhaps a little history lesson back to the last election would jar your memory. I seem to remember quite a few people who claimed our current president was not legitimate. In fact, I also seem to remember that quite a few people choose not to attend his inauguration. Sure seems like the seeds of what we are seeing now were sown in the not too distant past and the 4 years that have not followed it which have been anything but positive on virtually every level. I would actually say faith in our elections has gone straight downhill since 2000 one. Again, something everyone needs to determine on their own.
So, that leaves us where we are today, an election unlike any other in my memory and I have been voting in them since 1988. As I like to tell my kids, complaining is easy, coming up with solutions is much harder. The question is how do you restore faith in our elections.
Let’s try …..
Step one, get every single political party OUT of the election process. Nobody who has a vested interest in the result should be part of the process. That seems pretty obvious, and that is from top to bottom, from people running the elections that are elected down to ” observers”
Step two, as much as it kills me to say it, we need part-time federal or state officials that run the election. Professionals, not party folk.
Step three set the rules for the election and stick by them.
Step 4, standardize where possible the ballots and also how you can vote. We have way too many states all doing their own thing. That’s great for Sesame Street, but not so great in an election as some states are still ” counting ”
Our country is falling apart folks right down the middle, we are split just like the turkey in Christmas vacation. Where we go from here will determine what we hand over to our children. Perhaps we should concentrate on what we can agree on versus things we used to respectfully disagree on.
That’s all. Stay Healthy
