What days do you think think will be good for Mille Lacs this weekend?

So, friend is going up for the weekend on Mille Lacs and the weather is finally warming up.

If I go I can only join him on Sunday and Sunday overnight.

16′ degrees on Friday, 22′ degrees on Saturday, 31′ degrees on Sunday, and 39′ degrees on Monday.

Do you think Sunday will be any good?

Also, where would you go out of and what side of the lake?

Its been a slow bite. All days will be unknown until that day comes. Very hard to say.

I’ve got friends who have said calling it a slow bite would be optimistic. It’s just a tough time of the year on most lakes with a seemingly higher forage population on Mille Lacs. If you go, I’ve heard that dead sticks are far and away the best (and nearly only) way to get fish to hit.

My buddies who fish it regularly are optimistic about putting a few fish topside a week from now around the full moon to close out the season. They likely won’t have to twist my arm too much for me to go give it a shot, but my expectations will be minimal.

I’d recommend going on Minnesota lake finder and picking out any lake with a decent walleye population before going to Mille Lacs. There’s not much snow anywhere and ice conditions are pretty decent. Should open up a lot of options.

    Why that over Mille Lacs?

Fyi, There is a Perch & Pout contest out of Hunters Point Saturday. (East Side) Heads up if you want to avoid a crowd. Or join in on the fun!

It’s basically a $15 raffle for an ATV and other prizes. No need to weigh a fish. waytogo

Sunday should be great, the best weather of the weekend and most of the traffic will be heading home! If the bite is going to pick up (it may not, if they are stuffed full of perch/tullies), it should start this weekend imo.

    Nitti’s Hunter’s Point?

Correct. 2pm is the weigh in for fish. 3pm the prize drawing starts. Get your button early in the day as possible.

See a guy with a beer in one hand and a Rottweiler on a leash in the other, that’s me. wave

USMC 81-85 by the way. Semper Fi bro!

Fishing for Ducks is happening this weekend as well out of Garrison. Warm weather and two tourneys? Mille Lacs is going to be a zoo.

I fished up there last weekend in the cold. Caught a few walleyes but got into the tullies pretty good. Even caught a tillie on a slab rap.

Yes. Whether or not I support their theory is still undecided. I’m not a big Mille Lacs guy and hate crowds, but I don’t get to fish with them much anymore and might give it a go anyway.

The bite has stunk on Mille Lacs all winter. I’d search elsewhere. The number of people up there has been only a fraction of the last couple winters.

I just got a text from my granddaughter, apparently she won a gun at this. Looks like a camo 12ga barreta by the ticket stub.

I’ve offered to store it devil but no response yet. whistling
