I’m setting up a dedicated setup for pulling stick baits and would be interested in recommendations for a casting reel. My main considerations are low profile with thumb bar, adequate line capacity, good drag, gears and bearings. Prefer to stay under $150.00 because it won’t be used as much as my other equipment but would go higher if that is what it takes. Also what are your thoughts for gear ratio, 5.2:1 or 6.2:1?

I prefer a spinning for sticks. Don’t have a dedicated rod for it but typically sticks aren’t all that far back from boat and having the ease of a long cast allowed by a spinning makes it the right choice for me.

When you say pulling stick baits are you referring to casting or trolling?
    Trolling: Shimano Tekota LC
Casting: I love the old green Shimano Curado. I have no problem casting some light stick baits with that. However, they are not the same as the new ones.
In winder situations and stick bait around 1/8-3/16 oz and under, I prefer spinning gear.

To be more clear, I’m talking trolling rapalas or like baits single or in tandem with 1.5 to 3 oz weight off a 3way. Usually fishing 8 to 24 ft with lots of depth changes so only interested in casting equipment.

Quantum Accurist PT with the flipping switch. Best by far for that application!!

Bought a Lew’s BB1 got $30 off and free frt. today on line from Dicks. Looks like it will do the job. Basically using like a bottom bouncer hand held.
