Take a look at the slush copter vs the bucket. Blows the slush down the hole, no bucket to carry out and empty. As noted above, you are on a roll with the ice fishing threads! LOL!!

If your not leaving it on the ice and redrilling holes. Just drop it half way down or less then drill holes, start drilling them about an inch forward as when you drop the house it slides forward. Then slush the holes keeping the ice shavings in place to seal the hole then drop the house down and you will find no need for slush buckets this way. You will have to clean up the hole a little and the better seal you get with the ice shavings the better you keep your heat.

Yeah sorry about all the questions last year I even asked for advice if I should get one or not and decided no. This month I found out I have a health issue that wont allow me to run and gun and use portables as easy still can but not as easy so we (wife and I ) bought a small Ice castle. I have never even really been in one before that’s why all the questions. John many have suggested what you said will the slush freeze the house down? Plan on moving within a day or same day. Still need sleeves? I like this Idea as lifting the slush bucket is the last thing I need. I have a lite flite auger can I just reverse that as well? Thanks for bearing with me everyone as I value all your advice.

I use a catch cover brand slush bucket. I also put my lite flight in reverse and push some of the slush back down the hole

The house will not freeze to the ice, at least not to the point where you can’t crank it up off it. I have sat for days like this and no problems. Yes reverse the hole when done it helps. Look up the thread I started last year I think it was about wheel house tips or pm me and we can chat about a lot of the questions your going to have. Biggest thing is don’t over think it and have fun. You will figure it out as you go.

You can use reverse on your auger and it will help but won’t get all the slush down the hole. That’s where the slush bucket is nice or a 5 gal bucket to scoop slush into. Hole sleeves will keep the draft out of the holes and help keep the house warmer (ie furnace won’t run as much saving noise and propane).

If your concerned about exerting yourself too much, I would highly recommend a drill attachment for the ice castle winches. Like it was said above, there was a good thread going last year of what to bring with a wheelhouse.

Put all 4 corners of the shack on blocking, not direct on the ice. Then you won’t freeze down. Use some slush to pack around the out side of the holes.

Exactly. I use 2×4 blocks all around my shack so it won’t freeze to the ice and then do some banking around it

I dropped mine directly on the ice almost every weekend I was out last year, never had mine ice up at least not to the point that the winch could not pop it off easily. Having it directly on the ice helps keep the draft out.

We block it and use the slush. Keeps the draft out and is a insurance that it won’t freeze

My 8×16 sits directly on the ice for weeks and pops right up. A little pressure on the winch cable, a couple whacks with a chisel and it’s loose if stuck at all. If water floods my spot I block to the water level, never higher. I’m another vote for Slush Copter, one of the best purchases ever.
