Bringing the wife and kids (6 and 9) up to ML for a couple nights this weekend. Trying to plan a couple easy quality meals, something pre-made maybe that i can reheat on the cook top that is kid friendly!

Spaghetti is one right off the top of my heads, pretty easy. Any other ideas? What are your goto’s

This year it’s been sausage and bacon that was cooked at home and re-heated for breakfast. Lunch has been some pre-cooked venison sausage and dinner is some frozen pizzas on a pizza pizzazz…Can’t get much more simple than that!

I bring a little portable gas grill, and grill up venison dogs or brats. Could also be done on a single burner. Soups are tough to beat. Bacon and eggs, or omelets in a bag (google it) for breakfast.

I also bring a little portable propane grill and tend to do something easy like brats or burgers for lunch.

For breakfast, I like to make fixings for breakfast burritos ahead of time and bring it up in the crockpot. I usually am feeding 5-7 guys and I’ve found that about 36 ounces of ground italian sausage and 2 dozen eggs to be a good ratio and will feed the group for 2 breakfasts. Obviously you can scale down the quantities to your needs but that is a good ratio. I also like to do a mixture of sweet and hot italian sausage. Brown the ground sausage in a pan, drain the greese, add to crockpot and then cook the scrambled eggs and add to the crockpot. When I turn the crockpot on in the morning to heat up, I like to add about 1-2 cups of cheddar cheese. Pretty minimal effort meal.

For dinners, I have found that making sloppy joes ahead of time in a crockpot is a tasty and easy meal.

Well no, didn’t mean to snuff this thread. Just linked the other so I didn’t have to repeat some things that were already suggested. Please carry on with this as new ideas are always welcome. Carry on…! waytogo

Crockpot meals are wonderful, just worth noting that not all sleeper houses are set up with generators, so plan around that.

No worries, just didn’t want to cause a repeat post due to my lack of searching!

We won’t have a generator this weekend, going out of red door which does provide a cook top.

Still getting some good ideas though

Soups and Chili are tasty and they heat up easy on a cooktop. Ill usually bring out a grill for a sleeper shack so the sky is the limit really. Burgers, Brats, Steaks. My boss makes a real tasty teriyaki chicken where he marinates the meat beforehand and we grill it with some grilled veggies and stovetop mashed potatoes. We’ve also made a lot of deep fried tasty things like homemade jalapeno/pineapple cream cheese wontons (YUM!), wings, bacon wrapped onion rings, jalapeno poppers

Easy enough to bring out a portable propane or even an old coleman charcoal grill. Works great for gathering around and having a few drinks too toast

With the forecast, this weekend would be perfect for grilling on the ice. I’d save your ideas for on the cook top until next year when its -10!

I was on ML in a sleeper a couple weeks ago. All of our cooking was done on 2 burners. We did venison steaks, beef and barley soup, sloppy joe’s, grilled cheese, bacon, eggs in ziploc in slow boil, and dehydrated hash browns. I also brought some lunch meat and cheese which was a big hit. We ate far better than we fished!

Sturdiwheat pancakes in many flavors. One cup Sturdiwheat and one cup of water and your in business (or breakfast). And it’s made right here in Red Wing.

Pasta salad is my go to. As long as you can keep it cold, its good for days.

You guys must’ve been eating the whole time…non-stop? Did you find time to fish at all?
Actually you guys did do OK with the fishing, got some action…better than getting skunked! wink
