Figured it would be interesting to see what, if anything you all are thinking of buying with the nice little check the government is sending out. I’ve really been toying with the idea of getting another rifle. Maybe a Tikka T3 lite in .270.

Nothing. Bought everything I need already with my winnings from the lottery ticket I’m purchasing next week.
March 27, 2020 at 12:49 pm #1927908Pay bills, but I will not be getting one. Read the fine print to make sure you are getting one first.

March 27, 2020 at 1:04 pm #1927916Been eyeing up a tree saddle… might be the perfect time to test one out

What is in the fine print?
Where is the fine print?March 27, 2020 at 1:47 pm #1927927For individuals making less than $75,000 and married couples making less than $150,000, the checks will be $1,200 per adult and $500 per child under the age of 17. Those amounts phase out for taxpayers above the income thresholds, eventually zeroing out for individuals making more than $99,000 and married couples with no children making more than $198,000.
Thanks,
RVRDUXMarch 27, 2020 at 1:56 pm #1927929Savings account if possible. I don’t know if we’ve seen the worst of this corona situation yet and I’d surely like to have that down the road if needed.
March 27, 2020 at 1:58 pm #1927930Hopefully nothing and it will go into the little ones bank accounts. If my job gets shut down will use it for bills if I have to.

Thanks,
RVRDUXAmount is reduced by $5 per $100 over those adjusted gross income amounts.

Thanks,
RVRDUXI have found that the income basis is Adjusted Gross Income from tax returns. Phased out at $5 per $100 of AGI over $75k/$150k up to $99k/$198k. Still not sure if that is 2018 AGI or 2019 AGI if you already filed before the extension to July.
Anyways I’ll probably get a stimulus check that will barely cover a large pizza… Picked up curbside of course!
March 27, 2020 at 2:20 pm #1927938I qualify.
What I buy will depend on whether the FW finds out. If she does, I’ll only be buying half as much !March 27, 2020 at 2:25 pm #1927939Still not sure if that is 2018 AGI or 2019 AGI if you already filed before the extension to July.
Sounds like they’ll use 2018 if you haven’t filed 2019 yet.
March 27, 2020 at 2:25 pm #1927940Dont qualify but still going to buy panoptix anyway, just to juice the economy

… darn, there goes my pizza
March 27, 2020 at 2:42 pm #1927944I really doubt many people will be using it for a new purchase. For those lucky enough to still have their jobs, I’d bet that most will put into savings or pay down debt or some other action to help guard against the crap economy we have ahead of us.
Unlike other payments in the past, this one isn’t meant to be stimulus to encourage spending to get the economy going. This one is about helping people stay afloat.
Justin riegelPosts: 936March 27, 2020 at 2:56 pm #1927949We should qualify, and will save the money for just in case and if by October everything is clear probably take a trip south this winter.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813March 27, 2020 at 3:24 pm #1927965We will use it to pay off any high interest debt we have remaining. Any money left over will be hidden in Folgers cans in the walls of my house.

Scrolled through the comments only to see people say things like these
March 27, 2020 at 4:00 pm #1927977Seriously though we are talking about adding to our tax return and darn near paying off the house.
March 27, 2020 at 6:20 pm #1928002We’d like to invest it, we’d like to donate some, but we’ll most likely save it because we do not trust the government not to decide to tax it.
