Was in Gander yesterday and almost fell over. I thought they reorganized the store because the normally empty .22 rimfire shelf was full. Of freaking .22 rimfire!!!

I asked the guy behind the gun counter, “What is this stuff cluttering up what for the past 2 years has been a perfectly good empty shelf?”

He played along and said, “Well, that’s a new rifle round called ‘.22 long rifle’. You won’t have seen it before.”

I wonder if anybody has fallen over dead from shock? Could the back of the hoarding epidemic finally have been broken?

Maybe I’m just lucky, in the last year or so every time I went to cabelas or gander I could have bought 22 rounds 8 out of 10 times. Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket?? Was just at cabelas and gander on friday they both had some on the shelf

    Which Gander were you at.
did they have any 500 or 550 bulk packs.
or just a limimted number of 50 packs.
    What were the prices??
    thanks

I had my wife run to the LaCrosse store yesterday to pick some up for me (she has ore flexibility at work…).. Yes, they had 500 packs of Rem Thunderbolt ($25) and 1,400 round buckets of the Rem Golden Bullet HP’s ($70) plus CCI 100 round sleeves ($8). There were several packs that were priced at $0.05 per round with others being a little higher in the $0.08 – $0.10 per round. Even Federal match target 325 packs.

I got the 1,400 round bucket so I could spread it around a bit – not the best shells out there but most of them go ‘bang’ anyway.

Woodbury had CCI 100 round packs and Federal boxes of whatever it is, 500, 525, whatever comes in those.

That was all I remember before I fainted from shock. I don’t recall prices other than they didn’t impress me as rip off prices, they were what I’d expect in Gander.

I didn’t buy any because I don’t want to be part of the hoarding problem. By dumb luck, I had picked up a Remington bucket on sale back in the summer of 2012, just before this panic buying/hoarding epidemic set in. It just so happened it was a really good price and I had a gift card to burn. I had that bucket and most of a 525 round bulk pack so I’ve managed ok through this shortage.

Do keep in mind that my original post was from July 5, so they could be stripped clean again. Call before you drive any significant distance.
