Wet MX1825 Live Well

I can’t seem to keep water out of the 50 inch live well so I can use it for dry storage. I have the drain switch in the “closed” position but the water seeps in while boating and everything stored gets wet. I then need to prop open door so the well drys completely to prevent mold. Any one else with this issue or is my drain switch not creating a seal when in “closed” position?

There is an overflow. The water may be coming up through the drain and a probably getting your well wet through the overflow. Try plugging the overflow and go from there.

To keep water coming in from the intake side make sure to measure the intake hole size first and order the correct size of this type of plug

Remove the corresponding filter dome on the back of the boat, there will be two, one for the front/rear livewell, put the plug in.

You are going to have to cut the filter dome with a utility knife a bit to get the cover back on as the plug handle extends deeper than the filter dome. You just have to relief cut a couple of the straight supports and the filter dome will go back on as normal

Thank you for the advice! Two plugs bought and put in. Didn’t need to modify the covers to get back on. Looking forward to dry storage.

David- Let us know if it works to keep 100% dry. I tried this on my MX2025 a few years ago, and still got some water in. I assume it was back flowing through the pump. I would love to find a way to keep the live well completely dry in the WX2060 I have now.

Make sure you close off the fill valve as well. Water will travel up the hose when reversing the engine. I’ve even had the water go all the way to the front live well on another 18′ boat when trying to get off the trailer.

Same here…. Drives me nuts.. I had big box of custom spinner blades in a plano box, and didn’t realize water was in the livewell. Needless to say the box was floating. The shutoff valve was closed. I thought about putting plugs in all ports but what a hassle.

First outing of the year yesterday and the plugs kept my live well dry!!! Finally some dry storage in my live well. Thank you again for the advice.
