After spending 15 yrs with my gsp,I’ve been dogless for 3 yrs.I’ve looked into shelter dogs, with adoption fees as high as $500.I checked the humane society page, and they say prices are determined by age and breed.
Many of the shelter dogs look to be crossed with pit bulls.I’m guessing. I’d be happy with a lab, I don’t hunt anymore, but who would pay as much for a shelter/aspca dog, as a papered pup from a breeder? Rural area here.

Our first GSP was from a breeder.

We grabbed the second from a rescue about eight years ago and it was tough to get. Spent almost a year trying to nab one. They go fast. There were a few times were we showed up to a rescue to find we missed it by a few hours.

I think the next one will be from a breeder.

I heard last fri that there were 40 lab pups available for adoption that were rescued from a puppy mill. Unfortunately I don’t have any of the details but if you do some research you might be able to track them down. oops. I guess you don’t have to search to hard to get the info.

I rescued our GSP about a year ago. Since then, we have tracked down the breeder and she just had another litter of pups. I believe she was charging $800 and had one male left. My brother nabbed one and picks him up next Tuesday. They are located in the north metro. Pm me if you are interested, I can give you her number.
