St. Croix, Mississippi no way right now. Sure I could set sail for some bigger walleye lakes but during this high water period, I’ve decided to hit some out of the way lakes in W. Wisconsin. Some of the roads leading to these lakes leave me wondering what would happen if I broke down, but, hey, why worry.

This is rocket science fishing and the fun of good sized crappies on the other end of the line is a blast. I’ve even had my wife along on two trips this spring/summer. This is lead head jig, 2″ plastic tail, tipped with a golden sparkly Berkley power nugget. My personal touch.

Today was another good example. Left the house around 3, hit the water around 4:30, fished for two hours then put the boat into a no wake roll around the edge of the lake with a couple cold ones!! Great day!

With my usual river spots……”underwater”, time to try something new.

That is one of my favorite things about this area, hidden gem lakes! Great bag of fish and way to improvise and explore other great opportunities on this incredibly wet year were having!
