Didn’t hear a single gobble all morning/early afternoon Saturday, but knew turkeys were in the area. Sunday morning was a different story. Had 4 gobbling on roost about 100 yards from me. They were responding to my calls but wouldnt commit. After about 30 minutes of soft yelping I convinced one bird to come take a look. The sun just started peaking over the hardwoods and this tom came strutting into my setup. It was awesome hearing his wings scrape the snow and making a whooshing sound. Also, hearing him drumming and spitting all the way in was the icing on the cake. There is something about the sounds a strutting tom makes that everyone, not just hunters, needs to hear. It’s a thing of beauty! Shot him at 15 yards and punched my tag around 7AM. It was a beautiful Wisconsin hardwoods hunt.
