Hit an under water old power cable on west rush lake just to the east and north of the north most dock. Had a couple boats come and assist and honestly can’t say enough about the generosity of this one couple in a new alumacraft and the 2 guys in a Lund that brought a grinder. The guy in the alumacraft cut it off. There are some truly incredibly generous, kind and helpful people in this world! Offered both cash and both said nope. The dude in the alumacraft with a cowboy hat used the line I’ve used many times, just pay it forward. Am typically on that end and am beyond grateful. It’s humbling! The young man in the Lund came to help, then went to a buddies on the lake to grab the grinder and came back. Unbelievable! It was a 3 boat team effort and felt like the I was the guy stuck in the ditch vs the guy pulling. Hoping I can get pics to load tonight off my phone, if I can’t will do it off the computer tomorrow.

It’s great there are kind people to help. I’m sure most of us here would do the same. It’s unnerving that that cable was there to be hit. It’s only a couple feet below the surface.

That cable looks nasty! Glad that most fisherman are Good Samaritans.

It feels really good when people help out of the kindness of there heart. Makes you feel like things could be ok in the world. I don’t fish rush much anymore but know where your talking about.

I totally agree that a situation like that, to receive so much help is humbling. I still remember one of the first times I put a boat in and was doing a garbage job of it and the next guy waiting hopped out of his truck and stood on the dock next to my truck window and calmly helped me out. I feel like that “pay it forward” mentality sets a trend and hopefully keeps it where a lot of good people continue to help others.

I’ve seen smaller wire then that stop a boat dead in its wake and break bones!

Glad you didn’t hit that with any speed!

Kudos to the folks that helped!

What a mess. Pretty awesome to get helped out, though! Is the prop trashed?

Looked the prop and shaft over and didn’t see any damage on the water. Didn’t spin the hub. Took off very cautiously and no vibration or anything the rest of the night.

Couldn’t imagine that catching the skeg, lower unit or prop even half throttle.

My wife calls the boat the battle ship and both the motor and boat have been through a lot over the 16 plus yrs we’ve owned the boat. Still amazed the timing of the help we got and the true genuine helpful spirits that went above and beyond. And this was our 3rd grandkids first time in the boat at a year and a half old. None of us will forget his first time on the water.
