Norwest based in MN used to be a great bank before they acquired Wells Fargo who had a reputation for being a POORLY run bank that was based in CA. Rather than Norwest lifting up the bad segment, Wells Fargo dragged down the entire combined company….

But it’s the Norwest executives that ran Wells Fargo after the acquisition.
Another former customer and former shareholder.

Norwest banks really was well deserving. Then Wells Fargo bought them. It was still okay.

Then Wells Fargo and Wachovia got in bed together. Then all helluva froze over for Wells Fargo and that’s what you see today. That’s insider information and you never got it from me.

Norwest bought Wells Fargo, kind of it was a merger, and kept their name.

I work at a small community bank that is 100% family owned. The customer service is great, but there are policies in place for exchanging bills and I can under stand WF wouldn’t do it. If you came into my branch I probably would have helped you exchange it, but its case by case. We also have at least 3 tellers working at all times. It costs us money to have those employees as we see many other banks only have 1 or 2, but the service means something to us. If you can, use a community bank over a credit union. Banks pay a lot in taxes that go to the local community especially the schools. Credit Unions are getting by on archaic rules and are actually now buying out community banks which hurts the local tax revenue. One think I can agree on is that WF sucks.
