Our vacation party of 5 got up this morning and drove six hours to check in for tomorrow’s Halibut charter only to get a text a half mile from the office saying tomorrow’s weather forecast of high winds and possible wave heights of 20 feet forced a cancelation.

I know in the grand scheme of things there are far more important things that can go awry, but this sucks. We are seeing some amazing sights here in Alaska.

Bummer! Maybe hit a river for some salmon or trout?

Sucks but could be worse.I will take sipping on a cocktail on shore over bouncing around in 20 footers.

I’ve been fishing and hunting in Alaska for more than 40 years. I learned it’s important to have a Plan B when booking anything that could be influenced by weather. For travelers to Alaska I’ll advise them to book their saltwater trip early in their stay. If you get weathered out, at least there’s still time to book another trip.
