Ma was doing some fall garden clean up and came across this hen right in our front yard. This mushroom is growing right out of the ground so I assume that after years of using wood-chip mulch some spores found favor here and decided to treat us to a late season flush of good eating. The growth is about a foot across, not super large, and I am going to wait a couple days before cutting it. Cold is coming so I’ll put a pail over it for frost protection. And here I thought I had missed these delectable eats this fall.

Lucky dog Tom, sauteed and then over a good charcoaled grilled T-bone.

Funny how mushrooms just pop up in places unexpected.

I missed out my spots about a month ago because of a torn achilles.

I love saturating those with cannola oil then salt then grill them.
chewy caramelized mushroom chips that make you hunt for more to keep from jonesen. Way better than saute.
