very interesting, thanks for sharing BK… the test results are not 100% accurate. So just be aware that false negatives are happening.

Is it then safe to also assume that false Positives are also happening?

Every test has false negatives and false positives. Some tests have more of one or the other. Some tests are more sensitive (more false positives) and some are more specific (more false negatives). No idea which way the covid tests lean, there are also a few different types of tests for covid.

I had something at the end of January. It wasn’t horrible, but took 2 weeks to shake. I don’t even know if we had 1 us case at the time. I never really thought about it until the loss of taste and sense of smell started coming out as a symptom. I distinctly remember that because I had never experienced that. It lasted 2 weeks and I remember trying to smell these flowers we bought for 2 weeks. I also remember the wife’s birthday dinner when I said it doesn’t matter what I get I won’t be able to taste it. Had most of the other symptoms but mild, accept no real fever.

The wife then got it and she had it worse. Fever, headaches, aches, chills.

Then 69 year old MIL got it and it was better than mine and she was over it quicker

I’d like to have the antibody test just to know.

I’m not saying it was covid, but wouldn’t be surprised if it was covid. I’d be less surprised if it was a bug that turned into a sinus infection.

I had an awful sinus infection in January too. For a couple days I also lost my sense of taste too and had a slight cough. But I never had a fever. I often get these nagging colds at some point every winter so who the heck knows. When they offer mass antibody testing I’d like to get one. Supposedly about 25% of NYC has the antibodies already.

Glad to hear you’re doing better!

I’m convinced there was an outbreak of Covid-19 in MN as early as January. I truly believe I had it. Eight of us guys went to LOTW for a fishing trip, one of whom was sick. Four days later, three of us left sick.

I was hospitalized in my own workplace — awkward — from Jan 12-15 with viral pneumonia, sepsis, and an acute kidney injury from dehydration caused by the night-time sweats, even though I was pounding water all day. Temp 103 max, heart rate 120s (usually 70s), wicked dry cough, chest pressure, headache, and extreme fatigue. I was ready for a nap by about 10am after sleeping about 10 hours overnight. Flu A/B negative, strep negative, sputum culture negative, blood cultures negative. CRP very elevated.

If that was the ‘Rona, I can see why it’s wreaking havoc on vulnerable populations, because I’m only 37 and in good health otherwise.

I’ve had worse flues….and I’ve talked to a number of folks that tested positive and their symptoms are all over the place. One person lost the sense of taste and smell…

Good to hear you’re doing alright BK, but it seems like losing your sense of taste and small would have been a positive outcome for someone that eats SPAM! devil

Not that this would skew any numbers but…. I read from a reliable source, if a hospital can write down Covid 19 as a diagnosis, they receive $13,000. If they put you on a ventilator, it goes to $39,000. Glad your back to normal, BK… well, it’s not like you were before but you know what I mean mrgreen

I also am pretty sure I had it mid December… and the wife had it after me. Cannot wait for a reliable test to confirm.

From the sounds of it just on this forum, a lot of us may have already had it. Only an antibody test will confirm it, however.

Studies coming out show there’s a likely S-ton more cases than ever imagined.

I’m not sure what constitutes a “s-ton”, but MN health commissioner Malcolm has been saying for weeks now that MN could have as many as 100 times the number of known tested positive cases.

As many as 1/4 people in NYC have had it (numbers could be skewed depending on who they tested, or the tests themselves obviously)

I sincerely hope that this ends up being the case. Unfortunately, we won’t know for awhile. The FDA pushed through the antibody tests without the normal quality control measures. Now that labs are looking into them more they are finding that there are a lot of false positives, ie the tests are very sensitive but not very specific. This is leading them to read positive for other viruses in the corona family (many common colds). No doubt that the number of people infected is a lot more than the confirmed cases given how slowly we ramped up testing. We will have to wait to find out if it is 5x or 200x.

I think this is a pretty well known idea that should reveal itself with more testing. I think the biggest question left to answer is how much immunity those that have been infected have and how long it will last. Will it be a different strain this winter or next or will the population gain immunity quickly? We just don’t have answers about immunity. Everything so far is based on assumptions.

Definitely based on assumptions but the coronavirus family of viruses mutates slower than the flu. Typically you won’t be re-infected by a virus from that family for 3-4 years

Insurance payments are based on complexity. Covid patients are more complex (extra equipment, isolation etc.) No chance that money makes up for how much the healthcare system is losing right now in dental/elective surgeries etc. Minnesota hospitals are losing 30 million a day right now. Just saying

Back at the beginning of April when Fox started pushing the overinflated deaths narrative Jensen jumped on some sort of ‘news’ organization and said the State on Minnesota gave doctors letter to coach them how to do death certificates around covid 19, thus the state is inflating the numbers. He has now been ‘clearer’ those documents came from the CDC, which is of course a federal department. So makes his credibility less than perfect. And obviously State Run Media can never be trusted. rotflol

Oh, look Jensen also ‘clarified’ his statements around this:
“Jensen said he did not think that hospitals were intentionally misclassifying cases for financial reasons.”

“Jensen said he thinks the overall number of COVID-19 cases have been undercounted based on limitations in the number of tests available”

“Jensen said he actually believed there could be both instances of under-counting and over-counting of COVID-19 cases and deaths”

So the dollar amounts may or may not be correct, but it is just to push yet another conspiracy.
