I would have rather had Sandelin. I think Motzko is good, but I wonder if he has what it takes to win big in the NCAA. Sandelin has proved that. SCSU has floundered in NCAA tourneys. He did bring them their first ever win in NCAA though, so there is that.

Careful there with that statement. There are some here sensitive of such “slander”.

I was chastised on another thread when I described the #1 seed SCSU Huskies as “face planting” against #16 and final NCAA tournament entry Air Force in the first round.

Perhaps I should have used a more “gentle” description for their disappointing end to a season ranked #1?

As an SCSU alum I was dissapointed to the end of the season. Last two tournys as a #1 seed they have been one and done. Motzko has done a lot for the program bringing it to the level they have been at but there is something to be said about not bringing it when it counts the most.

As a non-SCSU alum I was hoping and rooting for them to make a run this year. “Pride on Ice” (Gophers) didn’t get in and didn’t deserve to be anyway. I have been rooting for SCSU for a number of years…long before even Joey Benik brought his hot stick up from St. Francis.
But crikey, even Bemidji State…the Beavers have as many Frozen Four appearances as the Huskies.

He does alright with the US Juniors & Championships
