I’m assuming you’re talking about Alumacraft Voyageurs, and not Voyagers made by Smoker Craft?
If my assumption is correct, your estimate should be in the ballpark (maybe slightly low). You’re looking at 1,070 pounds dry. Throw in another ~100# in for fuel, another 375# for a motor, and the rig is north of 1500# without a trailer or any gear.
A suitable trailer for that rig should be around 800#. I’m guessing loaded with gear you’d be between 2500lbs and 2800lbs.
When you start crunching the numbers, it really makes me realize how many people are pulling around expensive boats on under-rated trailers. It also makes you realize that basically any fiberglass boat which is loaded and 17′ long probably requires the license plate and tabs. Doesn’t that come into play at 3000?
Yes Correct the Alumacraft, Alright so was in my ballpark of weight. Dumb question the does the windshield play any effect in drag while towing?
I keep thinking of the people towing around a fully loaded wake boat behind there Yukon lol.
Charles,
I would have to think that any dealer that has ordered one, with motor and trailer, has to have a shipping weight on the bill of lading. Of course, that won’t include gas, batteries, maybe not the TM, but it would be an accurate starting point.
HRG
The boat itself weighs in at around 1,100 pounds. I don’t know about the rest of it.

With my travel cover on, I barely notice it back there (either my 1600 lund pro sport or my dads alumacraft 175 navigator sport, both relatively similar to what your talking about). Never towed dads without the cover but mine tugs way harder on the truck without the cover, worse gas mileage too by a good 2 mpg.
Does any own a 17′ or 18′ voyager, in Minnesota? Thinking about trying to find one for a test ride, most places are out of stock and waiting for new ones to arrive.
@charles – what’s your question behind knowing the weight? Are you trying to match to a current vehicle or something else about what you need to comfortably tow it?
If you can give us the motive we might have similar rigs to give you feedback.
ex. I have a Dominator 175 with full windshield with a 115 yamaha and single axle trailer. It’s a little wider but not far off.
Does the windshield make a difference in towing, yes but not much. Does having my travel cover on make a difference, yes but not much more. Do I care? Not in the least because I’m using a 1/2 ton pickup to tow it.
Charles, I too am interested in the 17′ 10″, but I’m concerned about the 87 inch width. Wondering how much it leans when two guys on one side, one guy with the fish, and the other guy netting it.

2850 lbs. give or take a few pounds. Approx 500 lbs on the tongue.
Weighed it with three electronic car scales. One on each tire and one on the jack. I was concerned myself with the fully loaded weight pulling with a 3500 lbs towing capacity.
