Don’t see any days forecasted through the end of the month where the wind is not less than 10mph. Most days are 15mph or higher…

The wind has been absolutely ridiculous all year. I think every major city in MN broke records last year for days with wind over 35 MPH.

I was in Sioux Falls this past week and the last couple days on Interstate 29 has been brutal. Sustained (not gusting, sustained) winds from the west at 55 mph. I saw several semi trucks blown over.

Even the locals were complaining about the wind, and they’re used to it being windy on the prairie.

The last few days up here could easily be passed off as January weather. High of 23 today…. Supposed to get down into the low teens tonight. We’re still making ice in mid-April!

We are in a Grand solar minimum this year, if it is like any other year when this occurrence happens, its going to be a cool spring and summer.

Pic above reminds me of a trip to Lake Erie years ago. We went out in bad weather. Buddy with the boat said the waves would blow the bait fish in to shore and that would draw the giant walleye in. I thought we were all going to drown.

I stuck it out on Mille lacs one day when the bite was good. And next thing you know I’m in emergency mode to get out of the rollers, I had water coming over the bow and the motor at the same time. It was terrifying. When I got back to liberty Beach I was the only truck in the parking lot. It was so scary.

Finally convinced my fishing buddy at 70. The only way to have the nice day off. Is take them all off. He often thanks me for that advice since it pushed him over the edge to retire. Seems like we have winter and summer now. Wish they would have run off with the other 2. That would be perfect.

15 degrees this am on Roosie. Hell, were making ice.
Some of the locals are saying that this might be the first year ever that the Opener might not happen. flame
Ice was out 2 weeks ago last year.

I just finished cleaning and oiling my reels with Lucas reel oil and Hot sauce grease. Now I am wondering if I should have used Antifreeze .

You might be waiting until mid May if you’re waiting for the wind to die down..and I’m not kidding..

Wind storm blew up on Devils Lake, ND last year. Inside of boat got washed by waves from both directions. 1st time loading the boat that some guys on the dock gave me High 5’s.
My buddies got blown to shore and had to wait it out. Was told there was 40 boats hiding/waiting it out on the north side of Graham’s Island. Lasted about an hour. Heard on the news that night that the wind speed hit 68 mph. shock
Been on Lake Michigan swells of 6 or 7 feet with no problem.
1st time I was ever worried in the boat.

Look at the bright side. You might be able to use two rods on the opener.
