I’m taking baby steps and moved the PFD from a storage compartment to hanging over the back of my seat.

Get yourself a comfortable inflatable, take care of it, follow the directions and wear it 100% of the time. Mic drop.^^^^^ yep, what he said
What he said X100
Inflatable on when entering the boat and off when is it trailered. Passengers…life vest required!
Used to night fishing for walleyes alone trolling weedlines..then it hit me one one day. What happens if I fall in at night…then it really hit me…what happens to my family if I don’t make it..
A life changing thought I did not want to dwell on…
May 10, 2020 at 5:28 pm #1941462Don’t see how anybody can’t /won’t wear an inflatable. Dropped a buddy off at the ramp and i went back out, he stopped at the grocery store to pick some stuff up and realized he still had it on when at the cash…haha. Returned mine and bought his own

I’ve lost track of the number of times I worn mine till I got home and into the house.
May 11, 2020 at 12:30 pm #1941591You’re all starting to get to me. Wore my inflatable for the first time last night. Solo in the boat, wave action, and 47 degree water in addition to the voice of IDO in my head.
While I hate wearing a traditional life jacket these inflatables are hardly noticeable. Will be making a point to at least wear when solo.
btw, older spot lock is more dangerous than taking a leak Another one I thought about, setting cruise for follow contour on the TM. Fall over and the boat won’t be drifting downwind.
Will I become a full convert like so many on this thread? Not yet that I can see. Especially summer recreational boating in the family boat.
May 11, 2020 at 1:36 pm #1941605Question, are yakkers and paddleboarders required to wear a PFD? I have seen several this season already that definitely aren’t wearing one and I don’t think there’s compartments on either one that could store it – especially on a paddleboard, obviously. Seems absolutely crazy to me that someone would venture out on a paddle board when the water is in the 50’s and not wear one.
May 11, 2020 at 2:13 pm #1941610p 15. of the boaters guide. does not appear its any different than a boat.
“A Readily accessible and wearable life jacket is required for each person onboarda boat, this includes canoes, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, paddleboats and waterflow boats.”

“The kayaker, who was making their way from the Mississippi Headwaters to Louisiana, had many necessary supplies for their trip but failed to bring a life jacket for the journey.” Mathy wrote.
The kayaker was issued a citation after they were rescued.

Auto inflate is the only way to go IMO. I purchased a cabelas brand one a few years ago for $75 on sale. I think standard price is around $100 give or take

I’d suggest getting a hydrostatic one then. They go off only when submerged and not inadvertently from things like heavy rain or humidity.
